Seems like this place uses advantage of being the only one dining place around the hotel in many miles. Terrible service, even worse food. The intuitive decision if you don’t have enough servers after specific time would be not letting people book tables after specific hours. Otherwise the customers get a terrible service in the corner table (out of all empty tables around the restaurant next to a very loud old couple complaining about their lives to each other) with an hour wait for the highly overpriced food which is even worse than a 8$ burrito in the nearest bakery. So, the bottom line, we won’t be back neither to the hotel nor to the restaurant, and we won’t be recommending this place to anybody.

We made reservations for New Years Eve dinner at the lodge months in advance. When we arrived for our reservation, the hostess said they had no more room in the dining room and moved us over to the pub. The ambiance was not nearly as nice in the pub as it was in the dining room as it was noisy and had two tv's on. If we would have known that we would not be eating in the dining room we would not have spent the money for the New Years Eve dinner. Service was also a problem. We had a manager help us and he did his best, but it was quite obvious that the pub and the dining room were understaffed as everyone seemed to have long wait times for service and food. We waited about ten minutes after being seated before we received water. As for our dinner, it arrived over an hour after ordering. We had the tenderloin with chardonnay tomatoes and diced potatoes. The tenderloin was cooked perfectly and had great flavor as did the tomatoes. The potatoes were another story. They were bland and there were not very many of them. Overall the food was good but for the money, portions were really small.

Had a very disappointing New Years Eve dinner at Sun Mountain. Food was very mediocre — weird congealed cheese and pine nut glop in our beef tenderloin, for example. And not nearly enough food: my husband had the fish entre and it wasn’t even 1/4 pound of fish, and his crab tart was only 1.5 inches in diameter with maybe a tablespoon of crab. No bread to help stave off the hunger. My husband ordered a glass of wine and it didn’t show up until we were paying the bill. And we paid $89 a piece for this.

Came for dinner on our first night at the lodge. Took well over an hour for our food to come out. Other tables that came after us were getting their food before us. Server was not attentive. Only touched the table once and said “yeah your food is taking a while” then left. Was the only option for getting in later then we would have liked.

We have eaten here many times over the years we've visited the Methow. The food and service have always been very good. The views and atmosphere are stellar. this time we were there for a special prefix, 3course Christmas Dinner. Things were moving a little slow, but that was ok with us while we were waiting for our drinks and to order. The server brought as a number of different amuse bouches while we were waiting. The appetizers were very good. But when the dinners came, they were barely warm. It was a busy night, and we suspect short staffed. Our server finally came by to check on us and we asked him to take the dinners back and reheat them. My husband's came back very nicely heated up. Mine was the same lukewarm, but more than that, was not my dinner. Different ham, different veggies, and no grits. I was sort of full by then, so decided to just have my dinner boxed up rather than have it sent back again. The cheesecake dessert was very good, but my bouche de noel was dry and tasted like cardboard. Very odd flavor. We know the Lodge is under new ownership, so that might explain some of it. We will give it another go next time we're there, but it was a very disappointing special dinner. If not for the views, the great atmosphere and decor of the lodge, the whole evening would have been a disappointment.

4 of us dined at Sun Mt Lodge on Christmas Day. I made the reservation in advance and opted for the non pre fix menu. The other option was the bar and grill menu but they neglected to tell us that the bar and grill was only offering 4 items on that menu therefore my family ordered from the pre fix menu. There were a variety of options to pick from but the food was not good. It was served cold. The Cajun shrimp appetizer had ONE shrimp and zero spice. It tasted like ketchup. The main meal we picked was ham. It was tasty but again served luke warm. It was busy so we didn’t feel like we could send all 4 dishes back to be reheated. Our server also was not familiar with the menu when we asked about allergy information in one of the dishes. The desserts were very disappointing. The cheesecake tasted like something from a box and the bread pudding had zero flavor, was served cold and very dry. Overall very over priced for food that was not good.

The menu is inventive and exciting, and even the classic dishes we tried had little creative twists that would bring us back in a heartbeat. We had the Italian-style wagyu burger and the BCS lamb, which were both excellent. The show-stopper, though, was the lobster ravioli, which was MUCH more lobster than ravioli and featured Korean spices, kimchi spiced greens and kelp oil. We were so impressed with this dish that we had to ask specifically about the ingredients. Sometimes restaurants try to make ordinary food sound extraordinary by using fancy words to describe it, but this menu felt like the opposite. This was an east-meets-west mashup of fascinating ingredients and extraordinary techniques that was presented without fuss or pretension. Some of the prices were on the high side, but for the quality of the food and the inventiveness of its preparation, we found it completely worthwhile.

It would have been really good, but the service to our table was very poor. Server seemed to be going through the motions and took forever to get me my drink, after the salad was served.

While we were incredibly grateful for the Thanksgiving dinner and all the staff that worked on Thanksgiving day, the dinner just missed the mark for us. What was especially disappointing was the dessert buffet. Instead of having a variety of what seemed like store bought desserts, I just wish they had a couple flavors of freshly made fall pies. Also, despite having a booking in the dining room for the Thanksgiving dinner, we were seated in the mostly empty restaurant/bar. We’ve both stayed and dined at the Sun Mountain lodge on multiple occasions, but this Thanksgiving dinner unfortunately has been our least favorite.
