   We were sat at the front of the pub, we booked an early table at 6 as I had my parents in their 70s with us. It got very noisy, both the music and groups of younger people just coming in for a drink. Needs more segregation between the bar area and eating area. We couldn't hear ourselves talking. Can't fault the food and service though, both were great

   A lovely restaurant, our meals were delicious 😋 There was an issue with 1 of our meals but was rectified quickly

   Having booked using OpenTable we messaged the restaurant through the App and had no reply. When I contacted the George direct they advised that they hadn’t received our booking or message from OpenTable, apologised and had no availability for the time we wanted. Fortunately, Gemma at the George contacted us about an hour later to offer me a cancellation that suited us well. We were so pleased with our visit. The George isa great place, well presented with welcoming atmosphere and really pleasant staff. The Sunday menu included roasts and other really enticing dishes. The food was excellent and good value. No complaints whatsoever about the George and we will return. With regards to OpenTable, we will book direct with the restaurant next time.

   Has to be 4* because the meat feast pizza was just tepid, as it was again having been returned, but when it was finally served at the right temperature it was absolutely delicious and a delightful blend of flavours. The service was, as ever, attentive and friendly, unequivocally 5*, and the management attitude to the pizza issues was exemplary. Another lovely evening out, thank you.

   We are regular customers of The George, visiting at least 2-3 times a month for drinks and quite often food. The food is usually fantastic, but this time I had the vegan pie and the veg that arrived with it was awful. I couldn’t even work out what it was at first and has to ask the waitress…apparently it was roasted root vegetables, but half of it was burnt and half of it was still raw inside. I flagged it with the waitress, and she brought me some peas and cabbage. We were with friends so I didn’t want to make too much of a fuss, but it should not have been served.

   We had a lovely meal, service was good, polite and friendly staff. There was a band playing… Out of the hat, they were excellent, really enjoyed listening and joining in singing their songs. We will definitely book again when they are playing.

    Our server was very attentive. She understood that it was a birthday lunch and gave us space to chat. We had everything we needed without being overbearing. A free glass of wine was a lovely touch .
