   Such a disappointment. First, the lights were turned up so high we felt like we were in a CVS. I asked for the lights to be turned down but didn’t happen. The focaccia bread was like a crouton. Everything was barely warm and tasted tired. The risotto for the scallops was mush. Cooked to the point I thought it was a purée of some sort and was overpowered with the taste of fennel. Other than the crispy rice ball,all the flavors were either off or just bland. The server, the rice ball and the pavlova were the only things that we enjoyed.

   Good overall. It was really chilly where we sat. I don’t feel the price of the meal and drinks met what we got. Servers seemed overwhelmed with the number of tables they had.

   We were really looking forward to our reservation with Goodyear House, one of our favorite restaurants in charlotte. Though many avoid celebrating Valentine’s Day due to the restaurant markup and cliche decor, my significant other and I saw it as a chance to connect over a good meal. I was told we’d be seated in the greenhouse but instead we found ourselves being seated at a picnic table in a barn-like setting with temps that required us to keep our outerwear on. After requesting a better seat for my partner’s back issues, we were seated at a wrought iron table and chair that kept us nice and chilly the whole night. For $80 per person, the prix fixe menu that featured an appetizer, a groundbreaking choice of chicken or pasta and a dessert. Two hours and $287 later, after shivering through the entire meal it’s safe to say we will never be back at Goodyear.

   Our food and cocktails were absolutely delicious! The restaurant was very nice and we were seated right upon arrival. Our server was not very nice. She was wearing a jacket like she was ready to leave and she did not seem happy to be there. She greeted us fine but when we asked questions about the menu she was clipped in tone and answers and seemed bothered to have to answer. When we all ordered, she specifically asked if we wanted salads first and we said yes. Then one hot entree came out well before the salads. I asked to order a side salad with the entree and she just said no, you cannot order that. They evidently only serve a side salad with the burger but I was ordering a much more expensive entree (the steak) and was told I could not order a side salad. It was strange and no explanation was given. 3 out of 4 of us had empty cocktails throughout the majority of the meal, but she never asked if we wanted another or stopped long enough for us to order another, which we would have. I would eat here again and hope for a different server.

   Relative to other restos in the area, the portions were kinda on the small (one dish at $20 was extremely small) side; and we are not "big eaters." Food tasted okay but, really not as good as so many other places. 😩 What was excellent was the aesthetics/atmosphere/vibe! We will totally go back to chill outside with a drink (yes, sans foods 😉) or two!

   This is such a unique place - the venue is special the way it brings the outdoors in and the indoors out. Absolutely great vibe. And the food was excellent.

   Table wasn’t ready for an hour after reservations start time, then we weren’t sat in the area we were supposed to. Then on top of it, food and drinks took just as long to come to the table. And when we got our food and asked for silverware the server said “we can’t find any”

    1st time visiting NODA area since we moved here. The Goodyear House was an excellent experience all the way around. It’s definitely on our forever list.
