   We very much enjoyed a delightful meal with attentive service. Perfectlyn located for attending events. Well done to all the young staff too:)

   Great set menu to accompany a visit to the Hever Festival, it was our second visit in a week so that's how highly we thought of the service and food

   The salmon starter was tiny. 3 of us had a minute steak. We weren’t asked how we liked them cooked .They were very rare, with one raw. They took it off the bill, which was okay.

   The booking was cancelled without notice. I’d previously booked for 6.15 on the day and received an email saying the restaurant had cancelled the booking 48 hours before we were due but with no explanation as to why. I immediately rebooked without issue and even received a text this time asking me to confirm my booking, which I did. I received a message back saying, ‘Great, see you then!’. On the day of the booking, we noticed that the restaurant looked dark about 30 mins before we were due so managed to find a member of staff at the castle who checked for us and told us it was cancelled because not enough tables had been booked. I checked my emails and had not received anything this time and showed the staff member my text confirmation but there was nothing they could do. The fact that I have been sent this review to complete shows that there clearly are errors within the communication system. Thank goodness for the lovely pub across the road!

   Hever just cancelled the evening's dining! No notice; no explanation or apology (but apparently it was lack of bookings); no communication at all - except that my booking confirmation on OpenTable just disappeared. But (thinking I'd deleted it by mistake) I was able to re-book.

   The starter was lovely and came really quickly it was a promising start. We then waited nearly an hour for the main to arrive. The portion size was good but it was very bland and dry. We ordered dessert and what came out was not what was ordered but a dessert that wasn’t even on the menu. It was so dry like they panicked and found it at the back of the fridge. I questioned what it was and was told the kitchen has run out of the dessert I asked for and didn’t tell the servers so they bought me this. We asked for the bill twice but by this point the servers were getting quite chaotic with everyone wanting to leave. In the end we went up to the till to ask to pay. We were very excited to have dinner here for the first time and unfortunately it was very disappointing.

   Good food choice and food was hot and cooked well. Wine priced reasonably. Ambience was lacking due to lack of background noise when not many tables. Overall a good alternative to a picnic and would definitely book again.

    I took my 90 year old Dad and family members to see a show at Hever Theatre. We booked a table for dinner. 18.15 so lots of time. The food was not good. £25 for 2 courses £35 for 3. Tempura veg was basically veg in tasteless batter and my first batch was so soggy I sent it back. The minute steak was tasteless and the chips looked and tasted like they had been sitting around for a while. They forgot about our puddings so with 15 mins before the performance started and after we reminded them they arrived…. A rush to our seats… not good for my Dad! Treacle tart (a family favourite) was way too sweet snd didn’t taste of treacle. The staff did their best but someone needs to overhaul the food offering for any pre-performance dinners as all expected much much better from Hever Castle. Paid our bill which was way too much for the food served. Sad evening for all.
