A few things to note: 1- The Salty portion of the tea experience were nice and had some thoughts behind them to elevate each components, but nothing that would make you want more. 2- This is redeemed by the sweets that are very delicate and absolutely delicious. 3- Service is slow 4- When service gets there it is quite attentive, courteous, and high energy (almost too much?) 5-General vibe are alright, but some chairs used in the upper regions are basically banquet chairs and not too enjoyable to sit on. Decor was disappointing for the institution ("upstairs region"). 6-The tea itself was a hit/miss: no instructions were given on how long to steep the tea, so you would often either drink some water with a hint of flavor or the most bitter beverage in existence (but you'll get 4 tea cups worth of liquid!) Conclusion: Your experience at the Ritz will be mostly carried by the conversations from the people you are with and the sweets, more so than the general tea experience itself. If you wish more than just the "bragging rights" of having been at the Ritz, consider alternative Afternoon Tea experiences.

Wonderful experience for a special occasion ( my mother’s birthday), attentive waiter with fantastic service. The suggested teas and drinks were great and the high tea service was very nice. An elegant afternoon well worth the price, thank you.

I ordered the gluten free Afternoon Tea at the Palm Court today and was terribly disappointed. The bread for the little sandwiches was stale and the sandwiches were tasteless. The scones were hard and heavy and other than being salty, also tasteless. The pastries were also very disappointing. The pastry chef apparently does not know how how to prepare gluten free desserts.
