   With a heavy heart, I write this review for The Palm in downtown Los Angeles, knowing that its doors will close for good on December 31, 2024. This iconic restaurant has been my second home, where unforgettable meals, warm hospitality, and cherished memories have come together under one roof. The food here has always been a masterpiece. Each dish celebrated flavor and tradition, from the perfectly cooked steaks to the decadent lobster. The impeccable service has only heightened the experience—servers who know your name, bartenders who remember your drink, and staff who made every visit feel like a homecoming. But The Palm is more than just a restaurant; it’s a living scrapbook of memories. For me, it holds an especially sentimental place. My caricature is proudly displayed above the bar, a small but significant piece of my history. It symbolizes the countless moments I’ve shared here with friends, family, and colleagues and the laughter and conversations that have filled these walls. The closing of The Palm means more than losing a beloved restaurant—it’s the end of an era for Los Angeles and the last Palm in California. This place has been a gathering spot for so many years, where milestones were celebrated and traditions were born. Thinking that this chapter is coming to a close is bittersweet, but I am grateful for every memory and meal. Thank you, The Palm, for everything you’ve given to your patrons and the city of Los Angeles. You will be deeply missed but never forgotten.

   Some may not know that New Year’s Eve is the closing night for this wonderful establishment. Cheers to the GM and his amazing staff for providing 25 years of wonderful, memorable dinners. Not sure how to fill the hole in our hearts.

   Really amazing experience, phenomenal steak with black truffle butter, and the half and half side was scrumptious. Sad to see this restaurant close!

   Excellent oyster oreganato and traditional raw oysters. Bacon steak delish. Carpaccio very tasty and great before the cooked filet mignon. Really enjoyed the donut holes. Very good caring service. Great representation of The Palm brand.

   We had our annual family "Christmas party" there on Sunday night and the food and service were excellent as always. What cast a pall over the event at the end of the night was finding out that the downtown LA Palm was closing down on 12/30/24. With this closure there will no longer be any Palm restaurants in Los Angeles, or California for that matter. We will have to drive/fly to Las Vegas if we want to enjoy The Palm in the future. I have been dining at The Palm since 1983 in West Hollywood and during my career I have taken clients to The Palm (all four of them when they all existed) in New York, Washington D.C., Orlando, Chicago and Mexico City. We have had dining events for clients, staff and family at many of them. In June 2024 I even had my retirement party at the downtown LA Palm. What set The Palm apart was the local people and their personal touch. I always felt like I was part of a big family wherever I went. I was fortunate to have my family's portraits on the bar wall in the downtown Los Angeles so we can figuratively look down at the bartender to make sure he/she is making the drinks the way we like them! Alas, those pictures will undoubtedly be painted over or the wall will be demolished, but at least we have our portraits in our home and our fond memories are fully engrained in our brains. We shall continue to dine at The Palm whenever we can and understand in some areas of the country that business hasn't returned to the pre-COVID levels, let alone demonstrated growth over recent years. Thank you for all the wonderful memories and I shall pray that all the great employees I have come to know land on their feet in even better positions.

   Jeff the GM was nice when I visited the day before to buy a gift card. Sad to hear about this location closing and anxious to hear what will happen to our caricatures! Lamont Was friendly and helpful. Maria our server is the absolute best. She’s been serving us for over 15 years and we were both sad to say goodbye. The food was mediocre and over priced. Bone in rib eyes were thin and extremely fatty. Mac and cheese was basically pasta with some butter.

   I ordered The Porterhouse, and compared to most, this was adequate at best. We ordered a few sides, which were good. The server was very accommodating.

    We started with and excellent Basil Hayden Old Fashion followed by a lovely bottle of Kosta Browne that paired well with our appetizers, soup and salad…finished with beautifully prepared Filet Mignon and side dishes all washed down with a great bottle of Justin Isosceles Cab…desert was a delicious slice of Cheese Cake and Coffee…prior to going to the Kings Hockey Game
