The Pelican Inn is a quaint, late 17th century pub with a warm, cosy atmosphere along with eight comfortable bedrooms and a friendly welcome guaranteed. We're proud to offer great food and real ales in our spacious bar and restaurant areas, as well as ensuite accommodation - all at superb value. We're also just 8 miles from junction 14 of the M4, making our pub the perfect meeting place for work or simply a relaxing spot to watch the ducks, read the newspaper and watch the world go by.

    We know you were busy but the service was extremely slow. We’ve been many times before and haven’t experienced this level of service. We arrived at 12:30 and left at 3:45pm! Some plates were cleared in between courses some were cleared 20 minutes later. Items ordered weren’t even served we had to keep asking. Very disappointed

    I’ve already send a rather long email to head office, explaining the poor experience at the pub, sadly the quality and standard of your establishment has most certainly slipped. I myself have a life threatening allergy and do not enjoy being discriminated against by the manager saying “if your allergy is that bad, maybe you shouldn’t eat out” . Depending on what response I get back from head office will determine how far I need to take this very serious situation. To top off my lovely experience was the delightful waitress ! Eating food at the bar, served us with crumbs all down her top and burping while taking our food order. Totally amazing experience I must say NOT.

    Sunday roasts are perfect & the staff are always helpful & welcoming. French onion soup and the mini deserts with coffee are a great start and finish. We will be back! Thank you team Pelican!

    Food arrived quickly but plates were cold as were the Yorkshire puddings so meals were only lukewarm. Potatoes tasted like frozen ones, not freshly cooked but the portion size was good. Staff were friendly and attentive.

    Was a reasonably good roast, except I did notice half way through our meal that other plates had roast parsnips whilst our table of 3 had none. Good service However when leaving there was no goodbye or a “thank you” those kind of things I believe make for a good experience & that was missing.
