About this restaurant

  • Neighborhood gem
  • Lively
  • Hot spot
A modern pub serving a frequently changing menu, available in our dining room, bar, and outside ledges. It's not fine dining, nor is it trying to be. We cook in a way that we as cooks like to eat, so don’t be afraid to share. If you want to pop in for a burger and a pint, feel free to grab any available space in the bar or outside. We accept bookings for tables of up to six people in the dining room.

It can be loud and slightly chaotic; at night it is dark. We turn tables because we need to in order to survive and pay the people that make it work, so please don’t be offended if we ask you to wait a moment for your table. Our dining room has limited space and we don’t offer high chairs, so please let us know in advance if you're bringing a pram or need to adjust your booking size.

Here's when we're open, so you can find what you're looking for:

Weekdays:
Bar 3-11pm
Kitchen 6-10pm

Weekends:

Experiences

  • The Plimsoll x Vino Di Anna

    Mar 31, 2025 only
On Monday, March 31st, we’re excited to welcome Anna and her sun-kissed Etnean wines to the pub, alongside a one-off menu of Sicilian bangers. Think fried fish with lemon, pasta ca nunnata, grilled sardines with salmoriglio, and breaded veal cutlets. Anna and her husband, Eric, cultivate 8 hectares of terraced vines and olive groves on the north face of Mount Etna, where they champion local grape varieties. All grapes are hand-harvested and vinified with minimal intervention in both the vineyard and cellar, crafting expressive, energetic wines that have long been a favorite on our list. This special menu and selection of wines will be available in both our restaurant and bar.

Review summary

AI-generated from verified diner reviews
The Plimsoll offers a delightful dining experience with "amazing food" and "friendly, attentive service." The Dexter cheeseburger and fried potatoes are "to die for," while other dishes like scallops and mackerel also impress. Though the setting is vibrant, it can be noisy and seats might be uncomfortable. Overall, a "must-visit" for burger enthusiasts!

I'd been really looking forward to trying out The Plimsoll, but unfortunately it seems to have fallen a little for the over-hyped Instagram crowd. The ambience on a Thursday early evening was extremely noisy and overcrowded, it felt like everywhere you stood a the bar you were in somebody's way which only improved slightly in the dining area... Then the menu was okay, but I wasn't blown away. It being our first time we decided to try the much raved about burger and a few other small plates - olives, salad and potatoes. In typical small plate fashion, things came when they were ready, but it didn't feel like the menu really suited this, it just meant we ate a plate of salad on its own, then some potatoes, then our burgers. With two drinks this all came to a stonking £90+ which.. I guess it is London but still seems kinda extortionate. That being said, the food was tasty however we both sooner discovered that evening and the next day that it had upset our stomachs - not sure if it was the level of grease in the burger - but yeah.. bit of a disappointment.

The plimsoll is a beautiful place, and the staff is lovely. Like everywhere the prices really went up. I know times are hard but 1 piece of roasted chicory (1!) and 1 small scallop for £20 + 12.5% service starts feeling a little absurd. Will happily come back for a quick burger and a half, but that’s all

Delicious inventive menu that changes regularly whilst keeping a few favourites in reserve. Never disappoints unless I can’t get a table.

Service was good and the burger and blood orange margarita were lovely. Felt a bit/a lot let down by the pork belly portion size and the frankfurter dish, for the price I thought it would be a bit more interesting than a literal chopped up frankfurter.

£25 for one lamb chop and potatoe salad is a bit expensive. The ragu was good but quite pricey. The burgers are the best.
