Hawaii’s first and only Relais & Châteaux restaurant, The Restaurant at Hotel Wailea offers a 'culinary casual' experience with creative island-to-table cuisine. Menus are created around what is readily available from Maui’s farms and fisherman ensuring that each dish is prepared using only the finest local, seasonal and artisanal products; including those grown in the restaurant’s own orchard.

This is one of our favorite restaurants. The serving ce is always impeccable and the food is swoon worthy. This trip was no different. Daniel, our waiter, was courteous, kind and intelligent, but was a wealth of knowledge about not only the menu, but about bourbon and whisky, which made my husband’s experience even better. We appreciated the attention to detail with regard to everything we ate. The food was well balanced in flavor and texture. We have come here on our yearly visits to Maui to celebrate my husband’s birthday for several years and we will continue to do so in the future. Thank you to everyone who made his birthday both memorable and delicious!

The views are great but the service isn’t friendly and is rather slow. It’s very stuffy. It feels like a place you’d take a business associate to impress but it’s a vacation destination. At check-in we were asked if we were celebrating anything and we told them it was our anniversary and another table was congratulated for their anniversary meanwhile no mention made to us. After the first course we were told second was coming shortly - 25 minutes later nothing happened. Then an apology. Then 15 minutes later it appeared. Pricey for meh.

I don’t care for a price fix menu and did not realize that was the case here. Service is excellent. Portions are on the smaller side. The restaurant and hotel are very dark. I nearly fell off the curb when I was leaving. Wine list is just ok. There are other restaurants for the amount of money that this place charges that I would elect to go to first.

My wife and I are unabashed foodies. We have dined all over the world. Our dinner last night was delicious. Expertly prepared with the freshest ingredients. Finest meal we have had on Maui. Highly recommended.

While the service was very responsive, the food was over-priced, under-portioned, and mediocre in quality. It’s unfortunate, because nothing bodes well for the future sustainability of this restaurant. A price-fixed menu at $150 per person, for a three-course meal of over-priced, very small portions, of very limited choices on the menu makes this dinner option unmemorable at best, and regrettable at worst. The appetizers were so small in portion-size that they are not worth noting. As for the main dish, our lamb was not as tender as we expected it to be and our fish was overcooked. And as for desserts, given the price of the meal, we expected awe-inspiring after-meal delectables, and nothing could be further from the truth. So, unfortunately, this meal was the lowest point of our trip to Maui. Hopefully, “The Restaurant” will consider reviews such as this and make viable changes, for the longevity of the existence of this business, and as the anchor restaurant of the beautiful Hotel Wailea.
