   Our waiter was attentive and friendly but the food took an age to arrive - about 25-30 minutes, and there were only two other tables in the restaurant, both of them eating already. The pork belly looked a bit dry but my friend told me it was good . The apple that came with it was well under cooked and crunchy. My fish and chips were very good although they were fries, not proper chips which was disappointing. All the food was nicely presented. Oddly, our waiter didn't know what the crumble of the day was so he had to go and check; a basic necessity for waiting staff, I would have thought, to know such things before attending tables. Around the bar and pool table it gets noisy so I was glad to be away from that. Otherwise a decent enough lunch although I thought the pub lacked atmosphere; it was a bit soulless, in spite of the alluring pictures on the website.

   We enjoyed a cracking roast for four people. Our two dogs were made very welcome from the minute we arrived. Great service, friendly staff and a very tasty roast!

   The food and service were excellent but to have a quieter meal it is better to request a table further away from the bar area.

   The main aspect that spoilt a family get together for a birthday was the excessive noise from the other diners and rugby watchers.

   The Royal Oak is a cosy warm place with very attentive staff member, showed us to our table and dealt with our order. Service was very good and the food was cooked well.

   The meal, overall, wasn’t quite as good as I’ve had on previous visits, the plate hadn’t been heated and consequently the cauliflower purée was stone cold as were the greens, there wasn’t a lot of either so I just ate them with the sauce which was still nice and hot. Otherwise it was all beautifully cooked and presented.

    We were served by a very efficient but friendly person and had very good service. The food was of a very good service and was well priced . Overall an excellent place to eat and we will be back.
