Location is great - across street from Gallery Place metro. We were going to Shakespeare Theater Company's Klein theater which is 2-3 blocks away. We were surprised to have two water bottles placed on our table - one still, one sparkling. Free. Refilled. Loved it. Food was excellent. Had soba noodle salad - a bit spicy and very good. My friends shared a veggie burger and said they couldn't tell the difference from regular burger. Came with fries - lots. Did 't have time to sample dessert as our play was at 7:30. We had been seated around 6:15. Server was pleasant and helpful. Definitely would return.

Everything was delicious the wedge salad and roasted tomato soup was amazing, the light lager and the frozen piña colada hit the spot, the hot chocolate to die for! My wife’s burger was also amazing, my bar steak though was on the small side kinda over priced for 33 dollars. Nice experience but would only come back maybe once again and try another entrée and see if portion sizes was any bigger. Waitress was OK but very hard to hear her opening intro to the store and the specials they had on. Only came the table a few times. Asked a busser for a second highchair, cause my three year-old kept falling off of the seat she said OK but never returned with one. Had to get a different person to get the high chair. Thought the experience would have been better.

The food was okay. The brunch entrees came with a complimentary cocktail but there was no alternative for people that don’t drink.

I was very grateful the hostess was able to accommodate my request for a table by the window as this is a very lively and energetic place on a Saturday evening. More so with all the happenings in DC to include a hockey game. It is undoubtedly a challenge to orchestrate timing of reservations, seating, and staffing to ensure good service (for those wondering why there are open tables). Our server was a very pleasant and efficient young man, the other staff who delivered food and removed plates were likewise pleasant, and the food was delicious. It is a lively venue - especially once all the tables fill up and they did within a short time of us sitting down shortly after 430 pm!

We’d made a reservation for 11:00 Saturday brunch. The minute we stopped at the front desk, the young lady said, without a greeting, “It’s a 45-minute wait.” I mentioned my reservation, and that I wanted a table for 2 and a nearby seat at the bar. I was accompanying 2 young men with disabilities and wanted them to sit together, while I sat separately nearby. She waved us to the bar and said it’s open seating. Another young lady at least followed us and gave them menus at a high-top table. The service at the bar and at their table was great. The guys always order burgers and fries, which are perfectly fine. I ordered a coffee, breakfast sandwich, and an okay mocktail—just okay bc it was really like grapefruit juice and soda water, maybe another spritz of lemon-lime—nothing special for $12. My sandwich came with home fries that were cold, hard, and swimming in reddish (paprika)grease. The sandwich had a strange mayo-like sauce, wilted square of lettuce, and pepper bacon that was hard and candied. Maybe that’s good in a Bloody Mary, but it ruined the sandwich. The service bartender spilled a lot of my coffee into the saucer, had to get cream from the kitchen, sugar from behind the bar, and did not respond when I asked him for cocktail napkins to sop up the coffee. All these little things added up to annoyance and my opinion things at The Smith for brunch have gone downhill.

The Smith was perfect for a delicious dinner, excellent service, and fun vibe. It is a little noisy but not too offsetting to return.

I thought the food was ok but nothing special. I had the Wednesday night duck frites. The ambience was cool Design wise but very loud as the restaurant was packed. Service was polite but slow due to the crowds I imagine.
