A restaurant that celebrates the splendour of British seafood and produce from local farms.

We are delighted to use the finest of local producers, farmers, and growers of the region. Seafood will always remain our focus. Oysters from Pinneys of Orford, fresh fish from Wightman based in Lowestoft, as well as meat from Salter & King in Aldeburgh, we are incredibly lucky to work with the best.

Lunch at The Suffolk is a quiet sort of triumph — the kind that doesn’t need to fuss or dazzle, because it knows exactly what it’s doing. The room has that calm, unhurried confidence you only get when the front-of-house is sharp, seasoned, and — in this case — Estonian. Service is elegant and efficient, with no awkward hovering or forced bonhomie. You’re left alone when you want to be, and magically attended to when you need it. Bliss. To start: a beautifully composed plate of pickled cucumber, soft folds of avocado, and a generous heap of white crab meat — the kind that tastes like summer and sea air and competence. On the side, a modest smear of brown crab, blended to silk, offered like a peace offering to those of us who know it’s best in moderation. A thoughtful touch. The lunch special was lasagna — and what a lasagna. Deeply flavoured, golden-topped, and precisely layered, it came with a crisp, lightly dressed salad and a glass of red wine for £15. A steal — except for the portion, which erred more towards “teaser” than “meal”. So good, I ordered it again, which rather undid the bargain. Better to charge a bit more and serve it properly first time round. Nobody wants to feel like they’ve been to lunch twice. And the loos? Charming — fennel hand wash, which smells like something out of a Scandinavian spa and feels entirely on brand. The Suffolk is doing all the right things. Polished, precise, and quietly delightful. Just bring a healthy appetite… or at least the willingness to order seconds.

Best resto in the area. Locally sourced food - e.g. oysters, crab, pork - all first class.

Excellent food and wine, my only small comment was that occassionly it took a while for our wine to be topped up as the bottle was not left at the table. Otherwise the food and service was excellent
