   The Surprise was a wonderful place to enjoy our last dinner in London. The staff were so efficient and friendly and genuinely interested in their patrons. The menu was a delicious array of both farm and seafood. A good selection for those needing gluten free options too. Make sure you book as it fills up quickly and we went on a Tuesday evening. Wish we had a local like this in New Zealand!

   The food was everything I dreamed of for a Sunday roast! Our server was amazing and the whole vibe of the place was energetic, quaint and cozy.

   I’ve been here several times now but no more. It is SO loud. The acoustics are terrible, the customers noisy, entitled Chelsea types who have to be heard however vacuous their conversation and it really makes it difficult to enjoy the absolutely delicious food. No attempt is made to reduce their shouting or for the owners to understand that noise lessens appetite. The staff is lovely, the decor fun, the loo upstairs was blocked but I should have mentioned that, I’m certain it would have been fixed. If only I could go when there were fewer punters!

   A quiet and rain Monday lunchtime, however the Surprise a welcoming and atmospheric escape. Great food made with well sourced high quality ingredients. Friendly and engaging service added to the enjoyment. Excellent !

   A last minute booking turned out to be a fantastic lunch. Superb food, great atmosphere and above all wonderful service. What a find - we’ll definitely be back.

    My friend and I had a delicious meal last night at The Surprise. The food was really good, the service was excellent and the pub itself was lovely! Would go back!
