Yes, we have a stunning waterfront location overlooking the Currituck Sound, but our goal is to be a great restaurant that just happens to have a great view. Village Table and Tavern is our favorite restaurant on the OBX. We visit for dinner every time we go to our beach house. This visit was for a special occasion, New Year's Eve, but we are just as likely to go there for a casual week night meal. Tonight provided the best sunset on Currituck Sound, along with a superbly prepared three course meal, accompanied by glasses of "bubbly". John, the owner, was making the rounds and greeting everyone, making us feel welcome. it was a great way to begin the new year...and the nice thing is, our favorite neighborhood restaurant is open all winter..unusual for the OBX, but John cares about his regular customers.

Our waiter was nice and the restaurant was pretty, but unfortunately our meals were just awful. 4 of us dined and no one liked a single dish - they ranged from bland to inedible. There were other small details that also fell short. The water had an off-putting smell and taste, and for the price of the entrees, it should include a side salad or bread or something. We won’t be back.

The fish fry was perfect. Light breadcrumbs on a wonderful flounder. Very light not heavy. Seafood chowder was very delicious. My husband had the hamburger and french fries. And that sounds simple but somehow Village table and Tavern waste able to put a great twist on that. The french fries were to die for. Would love to know their seasoning. All in all a truly wonderful meal. Our server was perfect and knew just the right times to approach the table

We've been here 5 or 6 times and it is ALWAYS delicious. Our favorite in the area, with great soundside views of the sunset.
