Tierra del Sol is a restaurant that takes its name from the Mixtec song, a melody that has become an Oaxacan hymn.
Just like that nostalgic song, this place celebrates in its own way the culture of an exceptional people: the Mixtec or ñuu savi; the first does it with her poetry and the second with her food.
Our chef: Olga Cabrera, cook, is the architect of such gastronomic praise, and she achieves it from the knowledge and respect for an ancient cuisine that she inherited from the women of her family and her community, Huajuapan – in the heart of the Mixteca region of Oaxaca -, a knowledge that seasons with his special passion for traditional dishes.

    It is hard to know how to start this review. We were a group of four and entered and were greeted nicely by the staff. things were explained in English we were taken to our table by someone who told us that this was a farm to table restaurant the menu was a little complicated, but our server would explain everything, the server could not speak a word of English and was unable to explain anything. We ordered two appetizers and two main courses .one of the appetizers was beans nicely cooked but just beans. The other was the tostada with beef sausage, which was quite tasty. The problem arose when the two main courses arrived. One of them consisted of approximately half an ear of corn surrounded my mole. It was almost impossible to cut the colonels off and left very little to eat . The second entrée was described as a turkey leg 280 g. the turkey leg looked like it had been excavated in the kitchen and had no more than two bites on it. Rather than risk more choices, we decided to cut our losses and leave. Although the food was tasty, there was not enough food in all of these dishes for one meal. we mentioned this to the English speaker who seemed unconcerned. I would strongly advise making another choice.

    Fue una gran experiencia, desde que llegamos nos recibieron con una explicación del concepto y lo que nos esperaba. Nos explicaban todos los platillos y se notaba que todo el personal creía fielmente en el concepto y que estaban orgullosos de presentarnos con esos platillos. Éramos un grupo de 8 personas y todos salimos muy contentos!!

    Three generations mole and a desert with white chocolate and gelatin were outstanding! The starter and the other mole were fine but not stellar.

    Our initial greeting, food and atmosphere was fabulous! Amazing that having a server who was very distracted and forgot about us can bring an amazing experience down to just satisfactory. We may try again but with so many other options, it will be a while.
