Welcome to Timbrell"s Yard, our bustling pub with 14 en-suite bedrooms and an outstanding kitchen led by Tom Blake from River Cottage and Ricky Ford. We're open all day for a quick drink, a snack or a delicious meal. Come and sit in our bar beside a woodburner, watch the world go by at tables out the front, dine in the restaurant or alfresco on the terrace - or just enjoy the peace of the garden. We have completely refurbished Timbrell's Yard, sympathetically modernising the building and restoring much of the original eighteenth & nineteenth century architecture. After many years in the hands of indifferent pub companies, Timbrell's Yard is now firmly back in business!

Our friends live in Devon, we are in Surrey, where is a pretty little town to meet up? Bradford on Avon, and of course it has to be beside the river. Timbrell's Yard fits the bill perfectly and its natural wood decor adds to the leisurely ambience. Both bar area and restaurant are pleasant places to be, you feel relaxed and welcome. The service at Timbrell's we were particularly pleased with. Staff knew the menu, ingredients and were able to make informed wine matches if required. (And I'm fussy!) Many wines were available by the glass so we were able to sample a few! The vegetarian option was far from the trendy boring risotto and the lamb dish cooked to perfection. Desserts were irresistible. White chocolate parfait and home made rhubarb ice-cream just two from the delectable list! Thank goodness we had booked a room for the night................................

We booked a night here for our wedding anniversary but as we were put on a table right by the que for tables and the team seamed understaffed we felt a bit short changed. The food was outstanding and I would give the place a second chance but perhaps on another night! Service matters!!!

The meal we had was excellent - I really enjoyed the crab cakes and rump of lamb followed by a chocolate tart, all beautifully presented and delicious. Couldn't fault the service and all in all it was a lovely experience.

We had a light lunch on a Saturday with a party of 7. Service was excellent and the food was very good. Although most of us didn't drink wine I was impressed by the range that was available by the glass. We were also impressed by the design and ambience of the place and hope very much it prospers. Inexpensive it isn't but given the overall quality not over expensive either.

Lovely, light space with lots of glowing wood creates a very natural ambience, in which the delicious fresh food is served by very pleasant staff. My hake and husband's steak were perfectly cooked, although on a Monday night options were limited (at least that confirms it's all fresh!). Wines a little pricey for the quality but would definitely go back there.

We would not normally pay your prices, but my husband was so impressed with your food that he even said we would definitely come back here again It is so nice to be able to eat out with local fresh and free range products and all cooked to perfection in your kitchen The only downside was I booked online and said it was for my birthday and when we arrived I reminded them, but I didn't get a treat or anything which I thought was bad and sad in this day and age

We eat here regularly; the food is excellent, good service, and a lovely place. We went for the early bird steak and wine £13.50 on Friday, which was stunning and unbeatable value. Huge flat iron, chunky chips, salad and blue cheese/peppercorn sauce with a glass of house wine. Fantastic. Our Sunday lunch there with family was also extremely good, and good value. This is the only place I literally 'must' have a desert!

We have visited this restaurant twice in the last month, once for Sunday lunch and the other on a Saturday evening. We were not disappointed as it has a perfect mix of good service, ambience, excellent food and wine. It feels like a special occasion but equally relaxing for a more casual visit. The furnishings are lovely, tables are well spaced apart. Cannot wait to go back soon.

Timbrels Yard is a great development, and a positive addition to the Wiltshire dining scene. We were celebrating a grandparents birthday, but the promise wasn't quite met. The ambiance of the man restaurant was a little too loud, and a little too rustic to be cosy, but that can be overlooked. (and improved with some softer decorative additions to dampen the noise. It was Sunday Lunch, so a limited menu was to be expected, but while the Roast choice was fabulous, the options away from that were limited, and no bar menu was available (a pity). The appetizers were wonderful, and we loved the pricing options here. We went from these into the main courses. Our children opted for roast (pork and chicken) both good choices it seemed. We went for the plaice, which was not so good, the base was soggy and tasteless, meaning half the fish was somewhat wasted. On reflection we should have chosen the roast (beef looked amazing). Wine choice was great, and a good range at reasonable prices on offer. Service was not to the level i would have expected, staff were a little disinterested (not in an aloof way, more a bored way). I actually slipped down the stairs returning from the toilets, the receptionist and a waiter noticed, but seemed far from concerned, I was fine as it turned out, but noted to them that the top of the step was very slippy (due perhaps to the rain outside) a lack of reaction is not good. Overall a little disappointed. The food was very good in places, but missed a few times too, value-wise, it was perhaps a little pricey for the return. And the front of house staff let it down. However. I would like to revisit perhaps on an evening to see if a wider menu offers better value, and if the atmosphere would be better than a rainy Sunday afternoon. I so want to give this place a chance to shine.
