Every Christmas we go to TJ’s restaurant for lunch with dear friends-former neighbors with 2 school aged kids. This year we went on the 26th at 1 o’clock and had a great table overlooking the lobby. Our server, Curtis brought us water, introduced himself, and left. About 10 minutes later, he took our drink order – wine, iced tea with lemon and Shirley Temples-extra cherries, please- for the kids. Our drinks came about 30 minutes later – no cherries, or lemon. He ignored the 7 year old’s disappointed, “No cherries?” comment. At that time he took our lunch order. We waited for 40 minutes. He never came to our table to apologize for the delay, or to let us know the status of our food. When our lunch finally came out, it was brought by other staff members-Curtis had yet to come back to our table. (Our table was right in front of the doors to the kitchen, and often, when he came out of the doors ignoring us, he was chewing something. We commented how we were happy at least he got something to eat). The food, as always, was absolutely delicious. And the bright star of the staff was the hostess Bonita. She brought us the utensils, napkins, water, and tried to get Curtis‘s attention as well for us. He ignored her for the most part. She was working hard, busing tables and helping irritated customers as best she could. SHE should be promoted to server. (We saw a group that had been seated just before us leave complaining about the service.) Our lunch took TWO HOURS AND FORTY MINUTES. My friend had to cancel her daughter’s 3:30 lesson. The manager, Paula was very sweet, and brought the check-(another 10 min wait for Curtis….) We will always come back, but hate to see that this kind of service is acceptable at The Jefferson.

Very pretty spot especially with the dramatic Christmas decor this time of year. Food was very good.

The overall appeal of TJ’s is, if you can’t get into anything else, at least you are in the Jefferson, in a corner, where your server will forget you. The excuse we kept getting was, there was an event going on for Christmas and the team for TJ’s of course gets pulled for this, and people like us, who had reservations, get to wait about an hour and five minutes for an appetizer. The menu is literally bar food, even though I’ve been to lounges where more selections than 5 different sandwiches. Our server didn’t care about being there you could see it in her demeanor, attitude and literally by the way she just was non-existent. In the over two hours it took to get anything, there were maybe three other tables there, so it was never busy in the lounge area. The price, 20 bucks for a burger, that wasn’t made how I wanted, asked for swiss cheese, they couldn’t get it that night, but admitted to having gruyere but they went with American to be on the “safe side” - so I got a 20 dollar Big Mac with some sad looking fruits…at the Jefferson. The highlight was the appetizer, the crab dip they have was great, just get two of those and avoid a bad sandwich.

I’ve had Sunday Brunch at The Jefferson many times, but have never eaten at TJs. We brought our kids for their first experience. The waiter looked like he just rolled out of bed and came to work. The dining area looked very plain compared to the other parts of the hotel. The food was good and everyone was nice. I guess I was expecting a slightly more low-key version of Sunday Brunch but with a menu instead of a buffet. It would have been much better if the dining area had some character/charm to match the public spaces. Also, it was freezing! Like the heat was off.

Private Party event in the lobby, made it very crowded and loud. The inside of the restaurant was quieter. Service was good, a little slow with the dinner rush and crowd. But very friendly. Lobster roll was delish, lots of lobster meat. However lost points for the butternut squash fettuccine. It was bland, no taste, dry, not enough sauce for the noodles. Do not recommend. We loved the crab dip for appetizer and the lobster roll. Ambiance was full of holiday magic!

Menu was limited. Waited over an hour for our food. Just mediocre. A 31% tip was automatically added.

Our order was taken quickly. However it took almost 50 minutes to get our food. This is the 2nd time this has happened in as many weeks. A shame. Lamaire is not at all like that

Food and decor were excellent. Our server was disappointing. He forgot our drinks until we reminded him. At the end, he took our leftovers to box to go, but he never brought it back despite three subsequent visits to our table. He was polite but clearly underprepared for the job.
