We had lunch at Turo Turo on January 17, hoping for authentic Filipino food, but it fell short. The pork liempo and skewers were both tough and tasted the same. The atchara wasn’t atchara—it was just a plain salad, like their ensaladang talong. Desserts were disappointing: the bibingka was dense and gummy, and the turon portions were tiny and lackluster. The pork sisig was the only decent dish, but even that wasn’t exceptional. As Filipinos who want to champion great Filipino food in London, we were left disappointed. Turo Turo isn’t a place we’d confidently recommend or bring friends to for an authentic experience.

About the place? Being a lover of Filipino food, and having already tried Turo Turo in Holborn, upon finding they’ve opened a restaurant in Tooting, we had to try it to see what new dishes were on offer. What I ordered? Firstly, let me say that the two dishes that I really wanted to try Crispy Beef Kare Kare and Grilled Chicken Inasal were both unavailable. So, we decided to go for Sizzling Pork Sisig, Pork Liempo. Charred Aubergine, Ensaladang Talong, Prawn Pancit Canton, Jasmine Rice and Turon with Ube ice cream (Banana and Tahini ice cream was out of stock.) How was it? Overall, it was a pleasurable experience, obviously a few shortages but nothing that was going to ruin our experience, shortages happen you need to roll with it. What I liked? Everything was delicious, but the standout dishes for me were both the Prawn Pancit Canton and Sizzling Pork Sisig. What didn’t I like? If I had to pick one thing it would be the door, it was not closing correctly and therefore it got cold every time someone used it as it needed to be physically closed. But this is a minor issue, as we all know that cold affects wooden doors, and it’s a relatively new venue. Would I go back? Yes of course, to try the dishes I was unable to order due to being out of stock. I would love to see a few additions to the menu, Calamansi both fresh and as a drink, Sinigang, and would love to see Pares (but that’s just personal preference). On to the rating? Okay, my rule of thumb is to give a maximum of 4 stars on my first visit, as a five-star rating is mainly for consistency. DISCLAMER: Please note all reviews are based on real visits to the listed establishment, items ordered, my personal experience on the day, and a true reflection of my visit.

I recently had the pleasure of dining at Turo Turo, and I must say, it was a fantastic experience from start to finish. I was excited to see how this new restaurant would deliver on the flavours—and they did not disappoint! The sisig was delicious. Every bite was packed with flavour, making it one of the standout dishes of the night. But the real surprise was the Ginger and Bagoong Wings. The bagoong flavour was a unique, delicious twist that I’d definitely come back for. I also enjoyed the spiced chicken inasal. The staff were also so welcoming and attentive, it made the dining experience delightful. Will surely book a table again in the future.

Absolutely fantastic food, we had the chicken insal, beef pancit, whitebait, aubergine and got a complimentary salad for the delay in food. The highlights were the salad, chicken and the aubergine, so much flavour to them. As they were out of the BBQ skewers we will definitely be coming back to try these as well as for boodle fight The food was incredible and fantastic value so much so that it has been my favourite meal of food in the last few years.

This was our first visit to this restaurant. While we received a warm and friendly welcome, the service was noticeably slow. The menu was quite limited, with several dishes unavailable, which was disappointing. Our group of four all noted how uncomfortably cold the restaurant felt and struggled to hold a conversation due to the high noise levels. In terms of pricing, it was comparable to other Filipino restaurants in Earls Court, the West End, and the City. On a positive note, the dishes we ordered were both flavorful and authentic, which we appreciated. However, the overall experience fell short of expectations. It felt like an expensive meal of second-choice dishes, overshadowed by slow service and an uncomfortable dining environment. That said, as the restaurant is conveniently located nearby, we’re willing to give it another chance and hope it will improve with time. We genuinely wish it every success.

The staff was rough. There is only about 2-3 tables occupied at the time but they didnt allow us to take the standard/restaurant table where we originally booked on. Imagine, we are refused in the restaurant with only 2-3 people inside dining at the time, we might even have finished eating and prepared to leave by the time their guess arrived for the table they said were reserved to them. Horrible experience. We only wanted to try because we leave very near and its our first time. Anyway theres a lot of restaurants in London way better!
