Inspired by the rich history of Pier 38, Upstairs at Pier 38 is a place to gather that encompasses locally caught seafood, sourced by the renowned Honolulu Fish Auction, featuring USDA Prime Steak. Our Executive Chef adds their own creativity to the menu by collaborating with Chef Nico Chaize, to create island cuisine using rustic French techniques.

Experience our cozy lounge setting inspired by a “home away from home.” Smokey wood accents with high industrial ceilings, glowing lights, and a majestic copper bar will allow our guests to unwind with ease. Seating in the dining room is spacious and perfect for large parties or an intimate date night.

We are happy to offer a contemporary wine list with old-world treats, locally crafted beers, and captivating one-of-a-kind cocktails. Our team prefers reservations; however, walk-ins are always welcome!

Join us at the Pier for enticing food, finely crafted cocktails, and a Hawaiian sunset.

Children running around very noisy. Out of beer on tap. Ordered a white wine they were out of it. Asked about dinner special out of it at 7pm. Dinner came with warm fish and cold vegetables - had to send it back.

The ambience and the location was great. Not far into Waikiki so location was good. The dining area was huge and perfectly set apart from other tables. The server was okay, not overly friendly. We ordered our beverages and appetizers and then our main course. Appetizers came out in a reasonable amount of time. Octopus appetizer was a small 6” leg that was shared amongst 9 of us along with the truffle fries, (excellent but overpriced, 3@$45), and the Brie cheese with jam ( not very gooey like it should be and stuck to the cast iron pan). It took a long time for our main course to arrive and ate the Parker rolls which were overcooked cause the tops were hard and dark brown and kind of dry. The Caesar salad was excellent. I ordered the prime rib with garlic butter. It didn’t come out sizzling hot, almost warm because the ball of garlic butter on top stayed in tack and wasn’t melting. It was not a great choice of meat, more lean and tough. Not at all juicy and tender. The filet mignon was a very tiny piece and I offered some of my ribeye steak to them cause I felt bad. The miso sea bass was excellent and a hefty piece of fish. The porterhouse was shared and it was a piece of meat with fat and tendons. It didn’t look like it was worth $79. We brought our own birthday cake and some just ordered ice cream to go with the cake. The ice cream was served but waited a long time for the cake. They offered to present the cake with candles, cut and serve the cake but failed to tell me that there was a $15 fee! I asked the waiter for that little oval chocolate piece that was on the cake that says Happy Birthday but I think they tossed it and ignored me and never came out to apologized. If they were honest about I would have shrugged it off but they ignored me. She was not given a complimentary birthday dessert too. Overall, the ambience was great, food was overpriced and okay. A lot of servers but service was absolutely lacking. I wouldn’t dine there a second time. Sorry.

The food is very good and expensive. The space is too big so does not feel cozy. When I made this reservation, the restaurant called a few hours later to confirm. When I arrived, the place was not busy but they weren’t sure if my table was ready, even though I had recently spoken to them . Overall, for a restaurant serving expensive food, the staff seem inexperienced. The vibe seems off to me.

Our party had a wonderful time spending together. Server Bailey was outstanding. Not perfect but she was outstanding in the sense she had a great attitude. The manager on duty was also very attentive to us especially when there were little hiccups in the billing.

Great find. Have been to Nico’s and Nami Kaze nearby many times and they’re great - but Upstairs is a more upscale dining experience that is elegant with a grand view. Our party tried virtually every type of fish on the menu. All were good, as were the desserts and drinks. We got there late to meet friends we hadn’t seen in a decade and they late us stay late past closing time. Two thumbs up!

We love Upstairs, this time we ate at the bar (they brought back their short ribs dish!). Our bartenders, Mitch and Alex were awesome. Highly recommended!
