We ordered the slow roasted beef because they didn’t have lamb? The very small fondant ? Potato was the smallest portion of potato I’ve ever seen and did not go with the portion of beef, it was served with the smallest portion of green beans and a spoonful of swede puree Poor meal for £26.00 to be honest The potato was not really a fondant potato more a square of layered potato We ordered a side of fresh veg which was lovely but small for the £6 price We asked for an extra square of potato and that was given to us. We had a bottle of wine melbec and when we drank the last bit out of our glasses they had all sediment in them. We ordered cheese plate which was lovely and a Bakewell tart Which was burnt and was so hard I could not cut into it, I sent it back and was given another pudding of the same, which was still over cooked but was warm n soft. Service was good and staff lovely But meal was disappointing to be honest and this was a belated 75th birthday meal with stay at the hotel. Pudding were complimentary for kindness day ? Nice touch But would I come again I’m not sure to be honest The menu was underwhelming and poor value for money or if you are paying that money the fondant potato should be real fondant and not a small square of layered potato that can double for another potato dish on menu.

Expensive single glasses of Prosecco for afternoon tea, particularly when the service charge of 12.50% is imposed (without a choice)

We sat down to afternoon tea at 1pm. We had to ask the reception desk where to go because there was no signage to the dining space (we didn't see a single sign for 'Victoria's) The dining area was getting increasingly busy as the session went on and there didn't seem to be enough staff to cope. We opted for the bottomless prosecco option taking the total price to £45 per person. We were only able to get 3, small, glasses each within the 1.5hr time limited because it was near impossible to get a server's attention. The food was fresh and tasty. The sandwiches were egg mayonnaise, ham and mustard, chicken, and smoked salmon. We also got a fruit scone, plain scone, banana mousse, chocolate plant pot and something else that I can't now remember. Would I call it special? no. Unlike other afternoon tea services that I have been to (Ritz, Savoy, Claridges) we were not asked if we would like additional sandwiches or cakes. I asked if it was possible to get any more sandwiches (each person get's 4 quarter sandwiches so the equivalent of 1 whole standard sized sandwich; supermarket sized loaf) and was told yes, but it would cost £7 extra. The dining area was a little chilly and didn't have any atmosphere. Overall the experience was okay, but for a total bill of £109 I wouldn't come back again.

A very pleasant experience. Nice setting, calm ambience, nice table. Perhaps it would be nice to be offered a fresh pot of tea mid point and an offer of another sandwich(es) would have been welcome. Thank you .
