   We had selected this restaurant at the Grand Bay Hotel for New Years Eve because it had been at the same hotel as an event that we attended there. We were required to give a 25.00 person deposit when we signed up in November. There were four of us. The cost for the dinner was $95.00 per person for a buffet. The amount of $100. was immediately charged to our credit card. We had assumed that the remainder would be charged when we received the bill. We were told at the time that they would be refunding the deposit but would need to pay the full bill of 95.00 a piece. The bill came and they automatically charged a tip of 20% and then charged the tax on the whole bill. ( We pointed out that this was illegal and they did give us a new bill without the tip. ) A tip on a buffet is typically 10-15%The deposit was to be refunded but hadn't been. I called and they said that they were processing the refunds on 1/8th. There was no refund and I have my credit card company handling this. Furthermore, the food was absolutely tasteless, they were disorganized in that they did not follow their edict that they had in writing of having a 5 minute time window before we could potentially lose our reservation, hence the deposit. We were there 10 minutes before our reservation and they did not seat us until 30 minutes past our reservation as the food was not yet ready. Also the food was way over priced. Atmosphere not what a NYE should be as there were no table linens nothing spectacular and was a coffee shop atmosphere They would have been better off serving hamburgers! What disturbs me is the fact that they were taking advantage of customers! They probably thought that no one would notice! Whoever cashes a deposit before a dinner reservation! It should have been cashed if we didn't show up! This hotel will not last should they continue these unethical and illegal practices.    My friend and I eat at a different restaurant every Christmas. This year drinks and dinner on the water. We made the reservation through OpenTable at 3 PM on Christmas day. When we got there. The restaurant was not open until 5 PM. We sat in the bar, and a lovely man waited on us and gave us lots of appetizers for Christmas dinner. The food was good but was mostly cold. I imagine this would be a great restaurant when it’s fall and bust. Another Christmas adventure for my friend and me.

   Wonderful food- Benny was a great server. The food was all delicious! Had an amazing Christmas Eve dinner with my family.

   I had the lamb chops, there was some kind of spice on them that I’ve never tasted on lamb before, and it overtook the flavor of the meat. The potatoes were so heavily garlic that I couldn’t finish them even though I love potatoes. Really not the best meal I’ve had. The bar was extremely loud, lots of business people drinking on their companies expense.

   Nice space, attentive albeit slow service, rather mediocre food. Fish tacos had precious little fish in them. French onion soup was so-so. Caesar salad was good. I didn’t realize this to be a hotel restaurant; I likely would have gone elsewhere with my group had I known.

   It’s a very nice place. Good menu. Very good service but I’ve been twice and the place is empty. Today there was only one other table occupied. Maybe a good review will help.

   I want to thank you so much for accomodating the 7 of us on a very important day. You went out of your way to provide good service and good food for a challenging day for all of us. Burgers, turkey sandwiches, and of course, those fabulous chicken wings, were delicious. Thank you so much.

   I was slightly was slightly worried about timing but it was perfect at 11am, beyond the breakfast rush. Serene ambience, beautiful view of the water, excellent service and delish brunch items. Wonderful presentation. Everyone enjoyed their dishes and we’ll plan on returning soon. I’d like to try the French onion soup, my friend let me try hers. Yum.

    Love this place since it’s located inside Grand Bay Hotel. Parking is free and convenient. Surrounded by the lagoon view. It’s quiet with a nice ambience. Waited a bit before anyone greeted me at front desk. Other than that, our waitress was attentive and nice! Service was great! The food was good from the appetizers to dessert. All up to standard. It’s a nice choice aside from the crowded places in Burlingame and San Mateo.
