WurstHaus is West Hartford's local watering hole and German-inspired eatery brought to you by the Bean Restaurant Group.

We are the neighborhood's gathering place proud to offer a large selection of German beers on draft along with Bavarian inspired fare. Chef Zach Shuman was head chef at the legendary Student Prince in Springfield before being promoted to partner. While the fare at WurstHaus West Hartford is not as traditional as what you'd expect at the Fort, he brings a young and fresh take on a German gastropub with 16 beers on draft. Our draft list has a focus on German styles including hefeweizens, bocks, marzens, kolsch and altbiers.

Apart from our menu that encourages communal dining, Chef Shuman offers daily entree specials including classic pork or chicken schnitzel on Thursday and pork loin on Sunday.

The food was not as advertised in the menu. Two people in our party got the special short rib dinner. It was supposed to have gray, and didn’t. One persons asked for mashed potatoes and got egg noodles I ordered the buffalo chicken sandwich and the chicken was deep fried too long:overdone. I was disappointed.

Had higher expectations since this restaurant is supposedly related to The Student Prince. Turned out it was just OK. No need to go back.

Could not have been happier with our experience at the Wurst Haus. Our server was very personable and attentive to our small birthday celebration -- and the food was excellent with very generous portions. Nice ambiance too. We'll definitely be back!
