~ STORY OF YUWA JAPANESE CUISINE ~

Chef Masahiro Omori is the Executive Chef / Co-owner of Yuwa Japanese Cuisine who was born and raised in Chiba, Japan. His grandmother "YUWA" passionately owned a fish market in Chiba, Japan for over 50 years. Yuwa's dedication to her craft deeply touched Chef Omori and he lovingly brings her spirit forward with his professional experience at a well-known long-established Kaiseki restaurant in Tokyo, Japan.

Chef Masahiro Omori brings specialized regional dishes from across Japan taking advantage of the highest quality, freshest local BC ingredients. These can all be paired with our specialized selection of wines and sake.

    Our KAISEKI COURSE is 7-8 seasonal courses including dessert. We offer this course at the chef's table (sushi bar counter) only, for up to 4 guests. We require a reservation at least one week in advance, which is FULLY PRE-PAID in order to have seasonal ingredients to be flown in from Japan. This charge is NON-REFUNDABLE, however it is transferable. We suggest a dining time anywhere between 2.5 hrs to 3 hrs to fully enjoy this course. We are unable to offer gluten free or vegan/vegetarian options, PLEASE NOTIFY US YOUR DIETARY RESTRICTION AT THE TIME OF MAKING YOUR RESERVATION.

    One of my all time favourite places to dine for special occasions . I’ve travelled around the world and find Yuwa’s quality of food ( both sushi and cooked) , service and atmosphere to be amongst the best in the world . And in Cdn dollars it’s even better value . Incredibly well thought out wine and sake offerings add to the experience . Vancouver is extremely lucky to call Yuwa their own !!

    Service wise wasn’t the best , we didn’t get the Dinner order in till 10. It almost seemed like they were waiting for us to leave so we had to rush to eat dinner and ended up just packing up early so we wouldn’t keep them waiting on us for too long. If we could’ve gotten dinner in earlier we wouldn’t have felt So rushed by them

    Yuwa was a warm and welcoming spot on a rainy November night with elicious food, lovely service, soft lighting and a room full of smiling, chatting customers enjoying the evening - we feel fortunate that this excellent restaurant is located in our neighborhood.

    Nice ambiance, great food and friendly service. A favourite place for us to dine out. We appreciate as well that the music is not too overbearing and a conversation is effortless.
