   I have been to Zama's a handfull of times and I have to say it NEVER dissapoints! I took my friend for her birthday today and OMG!! Zama's NEVER fails me, food was SUPERB!!! and the the service was beyond outstanding!! I will ALWAYS recommend and keep going here!

   A really superb chef who brings in the diverse and delicious flavors of Latin America. Creative bar menu with unusual and interesting mixed drinks. The menu is diverse and encompasses a mutlitude of different meats and sauces with excellent side dishes that really make the meals memorable. The service was super attentive and able to answer all of the questions about the interesting food choices. This restaurant would be extremel;y successful in any of the large population centers and we are fortunate to have it in Bakersfield. They are not shy about pricing their food and drink (drinks food and tip around $100 per head) This is at the very top of the local market. Still, for a special occasion, it is nice to know we have the option for a great evenning out. Keep up the good work.

   We love having dinner here!!!! Our server was AMAZING!!!! We feel like home and wouldn’t change anything. On top, the food is delicious!!!!!!

   The food and drinks were delicious. I especially liked the tropical ceviche, octopus and passion fruit margarita, although I wish I had gotten it with mezcal, but our server had suggested tequila before I realized that it normally comes with mezcal. It was too dark for me to read the cocktail descriptions until I got out my phone lights (more about this later). Service was pretty good, but it could have been a bit more attentive because I couldn’t initially find our server to place another order for drinks and food after our first order, which was just appetizers. We were eventually able to get his attention. But our main issue with the restaurant was the darkness. We couldn’t read our menu without using our iPhone lights, and we could only see dim silhouettes of our food, which was a shame because the platings might have been nice if could see them. I also had to spit out a fatty piece of meat from our ribeye aguachile that I could have easily cut off if I could see it. I understand that the restaurant might be going for a specific atmosphere, but it shouldn’t be that dark. Other areas, including the lounge, were brighter, and I wish we our table had been there.

   Our reservation was at 5:15 PM, so it was not crowded and we were seated immediately.. ambiance is phenomenal with soft lighting and soft music.. we had multiple waiters, at our table. They helped with choosing our entrees.. I had the Peruvian ceviche, and it was pretty authentic and delicious.. the bone broth soup was exceptional.. my son and I shared a very tender carnitas with rice beans and tortillas.. unfortunately, they took away the lava chocolate cake that I have had in the past. But their chocolate cake, which was shared, along with ice cream, was very satisfying. This is the finest restaurant in Bakersfield. My third time here and I am from out of town.

    We started with cocktails that were amazing. I really enjoyed the Double Trouble, which had tequila and Mezcal. We also really enjoyed the guacamole, which had queso fresco and pomegranate seeds and was delicious. Our entrees had great presentation. My friend enjoyed the flautas while I had the carne asada tacos. They were good but not spectacular. But I’d go again. Great ambiance and fun music.
