We are located in the heart of the Cedros Design District, within walking distance of the Amtrak station. The style is casual with indoor and outdoor dining ( plus bar seating). The patio, which can accommodate 18 guests, looks out onto the shop-lined Cedros Avenue and can be separated from the main dining area for private events.

Matsu follows a new light in modern Japanese cooking while paying homage to centuries-old tradition. We currently offer a 10 course tasting menu that constantly is changing with the seasons and availability, featuring a wide variety of seafood and vegetables, a few meat courses, and desserts. We also have a la carte and vegan options available as well, and walk in guests are welcome to join us either at our bar, or if tables are available for the evening. With advance notice, we are happy to adjust the menu to accommodate most dietary restrictions. A5 Wagyu can be added for an additional $55 per person.

    Best OVERALL Restaurant on the coast. Nice enough to celebrate special occasions and casual enough to pop in for lunch and have a cocktail. LOVE THE SERVICE…because it’s rare to find good service. FOOD is excellent…can find something on the menu for everyone. (My favorites are the Seafood Pasta and the Seared Ahi!) Great appetizers and GREAT DRINKS!

    amazing meal and service as always at H&S. Date night we got a high-top in the bar and grazed on the excellent starters such as the crude, cebiche, mussel toast, and more. Topping the evening off with the incredible potatoes and filet. Closed the place. We'll be back.

    Our party of nine dined for lunch in the middle room, next to the bar. Hardly any other diners were there so we had the room all to ourselves, which was wonderful. The wait staff was excellent—very accommodating and kind. Everyone was quite happy with their meals. Two of us had the hanger steak with a wedge salad. All of it tasted great. The steak was very tasty and cooked to perfection. A few had a hamburger. Again, delicious. Everyone liked the assortment ment of desserts we ordered. My only complain—$37 for salad and a very small steak is quite pricey.

    It was amazing. came here for my anniversary. the food was so good. best meal from a restraunt i’ve had in a while. listen to the recomendations. the server was really nice always checking in on us and even gave us a free desert. would definitely recommend for any situation!
