Located on the banks of the Truckee River between Truckee and Tahoe City, this rustic old Tahoe lodge has been a Tahoe dining favorite for many, many years. Choose between a cozy table in our Alpine Dining Room or along the river in our River View Dining Room. In the summer, dine on our patio that overlooks the river. Enjoy great food and drink that is creative and interesting while being delicious and familiar. The menu changes seasonally to ensure use of the most available sustainable, fresh ingredients.

I wish that there was some sort of notice that the menu would be limited due to Valentine’s Day. We had a new server who left the menus on the table, our dessert came before our entrée , and dirty dishes were left on our table. Our server came by the table 3 times and left empty-handed, leaving the dirty dishes. Also the large peppers and brussels sprouts only had 4 peppers, it was a bummer. It was our first time going there

Unfortunately did not have a great experience at River Ranch. Party of 3 for my birthday dinner. Martini was over priced, and came without olives after waiting 20 mins for it and my husbands beer. It wasn’t that busy at the bar. Nachos were good, but my husbands steak was undercooked in the middle and over cooked on the edges. My scallops were undercooked and my son’s hamburger went “missing” so he had to wait for another one to be cooked while we started eating. Overall disappointing. Maybe they were just having an off Saturday evening but we won’t go back

As always a delightful dinner at River Ranch in a beautiful rustic restaurant with outstanding service. The bison short ribs are delicious as was everything else we ordered. Love coming here.

Food was just okay. Not spectacular, and certainly does not justify the price. Our service was mediocre at best - had to repeatedly ask for water, bread, ... I'd skip this place next time, or just go for drinks on the deck and enjoy the spectacular view.

Reservation highly recommended particularly during ski season and on weekends. Bar noise does interfere with ambience. Best seating is along the windows or adjacent tables.

A Perfect Spot to Celebrate Laura and I celebrated our 13th anniversary at River Ranch, and it couldn’t have been better. Our server was incredibly kind, congratulating us on the occasion, and they seated us at a cozy table by the fireplace—exactly what I’d requested. The service was great, the food was excellent, and after dinner, we had a glass of wine in the bar, sitting at the same table where we’d had one of our first dates. That was a pretty special way to mark the evening. We’ve always loved the old-school charm of River Ranch Lodge. There’s something about the warm, lived-in feel of a classic ski lodge that makes you want to stick around a little longer. Thanks to the wonderful staff for making our anniversary feel easy and memorable.

Fantastic food, as always. The menu varies little but the quality is always extremely high and guarantees a wonderful dining experience. We ate on the early side and it was very loud due the apres-ski crowd in the adjoining bar area. That can be enjoyable too, unless you want to actually have a conversation over dinner.
