Situated on the iconic Chicago River with stunning views of downtown, River Roast is a lively social house and gathering place. The menu features contemporary American tavern fare with dramatic presentations of whole roasted chicken, whole roasted fish and slow roasted beef; all carved table-side. The food is handcrafted, yet rustic, with many plates designed for sharing. The bar offers a large selection of local beer, craft cocktails, beer, and wine. With one of the best patios in Chicago, River Roast is a great place to enjoy dining outside on a hot summer afternoon or a crisp fall evening. River Roast Private Events offers six spaces, all with spectacular views, for parties from 10 to 1,000. Saturday and Sunday features our Brunch menu from 11:00AM-3PM. We are open Mon-Fri for lunch and daily for dinner.

Our server Victor was so great. He came at great intervals and for once, we felt like we picked the perfect amount of food for us! Everything was cooked perfectly, every person who worked there helped each other and made sure our waters were always full. We would definitely come back!

Started odd with 2 glasses of wine. Nice pour and not outrageously priced. Followed with shrimp and crab toast appetizer which was very good. We had the double smashed cheeseburger and fried chicken sandwich along with French fries. All were very good. Service was excellent. Water glass was kept full without ever asking. Very full and satisfied at the end. Will definitely return.

We had a wonderful experience. The staff was super kind. We were celebrating my brother's birthday, and they gave him a little cake. The food was yummy, and the place was beautiful.

It was really busy and our reservation wasn’t ready and we were in a hurry but the management team and server were so accommodating in ordering quickly and getting us out on time - the effort made was greatly appreciated. Food and ambiance are always fantastic!

I am not at all a picky eater, but this meal was not just good. My sister and I went out after a long day working a trade show and we were looking forward to a decent dinner. They were out of their main feature, the pork roast so she order the slow roasted beef. It was tough and full of gristle. It was undercooked and had to be sent back to continue to cook. She ordered a side of potatoes to pair with the meat ($12 extra) that were chunks of deep fried potatoes. It was called River Roast potatoes which are not described so you have no idea that you are getting very unhealthy potatoes. My salad was drenched in dressing. Not great. The waiter could see that we were not into our meal at all and so he brought us a slice of carrot cake to share, and it too was just aweful! So dry and tasteless. There was more icing than cake. I have never written a review before but really did feel compelled to write one today - it was just that bad.

The food was delish, as always! Service was not great this visit. We had a teen with a birthday and there was no acknowledgment of his birthday, which was a big bummer.
