   We have been dining at Rupert’s for several years. Sadly tonight will probably be our last. When we are in town visiting family, Rupert’s has been out favorite place to dine. The maple mustard glazed elk meatloaf is sumptuously flavorful, the pan roasted duck breast a moist delicacy with a wow of orange, always enjoyed by all and the fish specials until tonight, flaky, fresh, melt in the mouth wonderful. Our server tonight was attentive and quick to resolve issues we had with our meals, which were many. Three out of 6 in our party ordered the flat iron bistro steak. The meat was poorly prepared, grisly & the blackened, smoky preparation was so over powering that the majority of the steaks were boxed up and eaten by our grateful Labradors. I ordered the fish special “halibut” and it was dry. I actually returned it and requested the elk meatloaf. My brother who is a chef assumed probably new staff would explain poorly prepared meals. Our family decision not to return to the restaurant is based on the managers behavior & what we deem to be extremely poor judgment in what we can no better explain then to call him out for what he does” racial discrimination”. Over the course of our last three visits to the restaurant we have attempted to get a nice table with a view. We have booked in advance, eaten early. At Rupert’s most tables have a great lake view. There is however a small room at the back of the restaurant that does not have good views. We figured after two years and probably 8 visits to Rupert’s, law of averages would net us a table with a view. Nope, got our usual table tucked in the back tonight with a view of a concrete wall. The restaurant was nearly empty as we arrived. The manager said he couldn’t accommodate our request for a table with a view. After we were seated he seated some flirty teen girls to a table with a nice view. As we left the restaurant a six person table with a view was still empty. Clearly back room is reserved for people of color.

   Our little family travels from all corners of the United States to be together at Christmastime. And now, for the second year, we have driven to McCall to spend some time in the snow. Also for the second year we have gathered around a table at Rupert’s. We have enjoyed Rupert’s staff, service, food, and ambience. Thank you, Rupert’s, for adding to our Christmas joy.

   Rupert’s is amazing every time we go. It’s the best place in McCall. Their fish special always slaps and the meatloaf with cheddar mashed is the perfect comfort food. Don’t forget the momo’s to start. Best wine (one of the only places in McCall to carry French, Italian and other international wines), great cocktails and really well executed dishes. Service is great. View to die for. Toffee pudding for dessert makes it the perfect dinner spot.

   Excellent high-end restaurant. John was attentive and very concerned about our experience. I would recommend this to anyone wanting a fine dining experience in Valley County.

   Another wonderful birthday dinner thanks to outstanding service and attention from Chris and Jessica. Expert libations, superb appetizers, excellent entrees, and delicious special sticky toffee dessert. McCall's finest.

    Easy to make reservation online, wonderful ambience and scenery, outstanding service by Chris Stewart, phenomenal Thanksgiving meal. We’ve dined at Rupert’s many times. We’re always pleased, and we’ll be back.
