Enjoyed the whole experience. Food and services were excellent and on top of that it was a beautiful clear evening, to watch the sunset over the ocean.

Returned to Post Ranch Inn yesterday after an outstanding meal there a few years ago. We have come from Victoria Australia to visit family so it is a very special treat for us (at $185 for a fixed price tasting menu it is at the high end). Sadly our experience fell short of our last visit. The change to a fixed menu is disappointing and I feel that having no choice at all is quite lazy. I like that they are using local produce and some food they grow there but I wonder at the dominance of mushrooms on the menu in April. The food was excellent quality but inconsistent - nothing really stood out as being brilliant and memorable, as each dish had done for us in our last visit. The dessert was very disappointing - a medicinal tasting eucalyptus icecream (a tiny ball) on a stodgy chocolate cookie with a couple of quite heavy white chocolate tuilles. Things were out of order (coffee brought before dessert, a salad at the start?) and the service, while attentive, felt mechanical. Sadly, after so much anticipation, I doubt I will return.

Brianna was an amazing host! Great service and views are to die for and got to watch the sunset! Food was amazing and fresh. Didn’t like the squab but they substituted it for fish which was very nice of them! Will def go back….

It has to be the most beautiful setting for a dining experience on earth. Not only are the views stunning from the Big Sur cliffs, but the food is crafted in such a wholesome, creative way. It’s a fabulous place for lunch and a must do for dinner and the sunset.

This is one of the most magical places to visit, sit, enjoy the gorgeous Big Sur coast line and eat great food in a relaxed special place. Wonder servers and service people tending the place and customers.

Ambiance was great. Hostess was sweet and everyone was kind. Our server missed the mark though. Listening to another female server fully explaining to her table the menu and giving recommendations, we felt like we missed out with our server who didn’t explain anything on the menu unless we asked and even then didn’t really seem to know what some things were. The oysters were the only standout thing on the menu. The pappardelle was so thick, chewy and stuck together. The puttanesca was a creamy puréed sauce and not at all traditional which is fine I guess if that was explained. The castlevetrano olives weren’t their normal buttery flavor from imported castlevetranos but a little more tart. The guinea hen, while cooked okay, was lackluster. The tomatillos were yummy but the “salsa verde” was just a pasty puree smear on the bottom of the plate. The pork chop/belly was good and balanced but wish we would have had a better description of the “young” kimchi. We love kimchi and this paled in comparison to true kimchi. The “crispy skin” on the pork belly was unfortunately so poorly done that it was reminiscent of a rawhide chew toy. We liked the housemade ice cream trio but again we weren’t explained that the chocolate had any chile heat to it. When asked what the flavors were, we were told chocolate, vanilla and mixed berry with no other description. Thankfully the dish was more than our server described but with that high quality of ice cream it would have been cool to see it plated in a way that showcased how wonderful it was, rather than thrown in a bowl all together. Overall we left pretty disappointed and probably won’t return. We’ve heard great things but it just missed the quality and care we had hoped for at a place with this level of supposed caliber.

Dear Ashley, We thank you and yours for spending some time with us and for being amongst the first to experience the refreshed Sierra Mar which includes a new menu, new dining room, and more. While we hope our spaces were enjoyed, we are disheartened to learn that the culinary experience fell short, and we appreciate you sharing your comments with us. Listening to our guests is so important and we hope you find some comfort in knowing that your feedback has been heard. We hope you will one day join us again as we would like nothing more than the chance to fully impress. With that goal in mind, please do be in touch if we can assist in making those plans. I love that place! Post Ranch Inn is so peaceful and beautiful. Plus I’ve never been to a farm to table restaurant where the garden is literally behind the restaurant!

We had the pleasure of dining at Mickey’s Place during the retrofitting of Sierra Mar. As always, the service was fabulous! The menu was limited as could be expected for an interim facility, but the food was very good and we had a chance to explore a part of the Post Ranch property that we hadn’t before! Looking forward to experiencing the newly renovated Sierra Mar later on in the year!
