Located in Shadyside, Soba draws guests in with plush comfort and gentle mystery, featuring a cascading water wall, glass staircase, and hand-painted murals. The spacious lounge and multiple dining nooks allow visitors to meet for drinks, share appetizers with friends, or enjoy a modern dining experience.

Soba cooks from the heart and features an array of small plates and entrees intended for sampling and sharing. The cuisine draws inspiration from China, Japan, South Korea and Thailand, though it also incorporates elements from other Southeast and South Asian cultures. Soba offers a seasonal cocktail list with both classic and contemporary offerings.

                                                                        Ambience was excellent and the presentation of the food was great. The food was good, not amazing and had some serious problems. As is the trend with a lot of restaurants right now, the flavor profile of the food was given away to random spiciness. Almsot every dish was spicy including the salad and the avocado asparagus sushi roll! How is spicy seasoning supposed to mix with wasabi and soy sauce? Makes no sense. My teenage nephew, who had dinner with us, described it well when he said there just wasn’t much depth to the flavor profiles. I had the salmon which I will say was cooked perfectly with a beautiful crusty top, but it was destroyed by a sautéed vegetable mix that was way too salty and again too much (hot) spice. (And I like spicy food!) I regretted the very last bite when it was so full of salt, I almost spit it out. While this sounds extreme, I’m not saying it was bad but for the price it did not meet expectations. The best thing we had was the chicken, dim sum appetizer. Lots of potential here, but they need to work on their flavored profiles and chill with the salt and spices. Be a little more adventurism and don’t rely on salt and spice to carry EVERY dish.

                                                                        We had a phenomenal experience at Soba. The ambience is great, the food is amazing (and the portion sizes as well, surprisingly), and their service was attentive and helpful but not too intrusive. We had a few concerns going there since my partner is allergic to seafood; however, their menu clearly marked vegan items that would be safe for her to eat (and she’s still breathing). We felt we certainly got what we paid for and will be coming back! Great for a date night or a vibe-y place to just hang out and have some great food.

                                                                        This has been a go-to spot for us for many years. We especially like to bring out-of-town foodie friends here. The appetizers are creative and perfect for sharing. Anything with duck is a special "yes!" The service is consistently excellent. In a neighborhood where finding on-street parking can be a challenge, we really appreciate the free valet parking.
