The food was fantastic, my wife had the tuna and I had the NY sirloin, our kids had chicken and fries, all delicious. The service was fantastic, atmosphere great and bill was very reasonable. All around great meal!

Stones Public House: Where Dreams (and Filets) Go to Die If Gordon Ramsay ever swings by Ashland, MA, I imagine the ensuing kitchen meltdown at Stones Public House would be so catastrophic it’d leave the place permanently condemned. And honestly? That might be an upgrade. Let’s start with the Filet Mignon, which I assume was cooked by someone who has never actually met a filet mignon before. You know, the cut that’s supposed to melt like butter? Instead, what arrived was a tiny, rubbery afterthought perched on a massive, empty plate, as if the chef had grand illusions that the “negative space” would distract from the highway robbery of portion size. Spoiler: It did not. Next, we have the “Irish sausage stuffing,” which is a bold name for unhydrated Stove Top stuffing mix with the occasional tiny, lonely piece of sausage, much like my faith in this meal—crumbled and barely holding together. I’d say they forgot to add water, but that would assume the kitchen actually reads instructions, which, based on my experience, is an overly generous assumption. To round out this culinary crime scene, we ordered the Chocolate Lava Cake—or as I now call it, The Great Deception. Lava? Nowhere to be found. Instead, we were served what can only be described as a dense, soul-crushing flourless brick that had all the moisture and charm of a week-old hockey puck. At this point, I was actually impressed. I mean, it takes real talent to drain every last ounce of joy from chocolate. Oh, and did I mention the service? Imagine the slowest, least attentive staff you’ve ever encountered, and then subtract effort. That’s what we got. Maybe they were as traumatized by the food as we were and simply gave up on life? And the grand finale: the bill. A whopping $235 for two people. That’s right—over two hundred bucks for chewy filet, boxed stuffing dust, and a hockey puck dessert. At this point, I wasn’t sure whether to laugh, cry, or call the authorities. Shameful Valentines Nightmare!

I love going to stones. I’ve gone many times in the past the ambience is lovely. It was a very cold evening and having the fireplace all roaring just made it feel cozy and warm. The food was excellent. The only thing that I would recommend to make it better is if they would start having specials and add new dishes to the menu. I’ve been coming here for six years and the menu remains the same. Otherwise I would come more often the biggest suggestion I could make for an Irish restaurant is to add to the menu Guinness, Irish beef stew that is what is missing from their menu

Best pub around. Ok, maybe the only authentic pub for quite some distance. Went full Irish this time with a Guinness and Lamb Shepherds Pie. Not sure any other place offers this outside of Boston. LAMB, not ground beef. Remember, shepherds don't watch cows, they watch sheep. The Lamb Shepards Pie comes piping hot on its own cast iron serving plate. Very tasty and tender. Claudianni was a great server. The tavern side gets noisy, but it's a pub. More quiet in the dining room section . We usually eat in the tavern.

We had a wonderful dinner at Stone’s. The restaurant was busy at 8pm on a cold February night in the suburbs. Service was quick, friendly, and efficient. A bread basket was delivered to the table with slices of a rustic brown bread. It’s been a while since we’ve gotten bread at the table at Stone’s, perhaps they’ve brought it back. The food arrived the table hot, everyone enjoyed their food. Some of the dishes are a la carte, so you need to order your sides separately. I had the seafood stew which has a great assortment of seafood, shrimp, scallops, clams, mussels, and cod served with a healthy chunk of bread to sop up the sauce. We also had a lovely bottle of red wine. The wine list has a good selection of moderately priced bottles and glasses. The atmosphere is cozy. Fires were burning in the two wood fireplaces. The restaurant was busy, but were able to converse easily. We’ll definitely be back again soon.

Always a good time. Really wish they offered more (or at least one or two) vegan options.

We had a great Friday night in the bar area by the fire. Dinner was great, we enjoyed the seafood chowder, a burger, corn beef sandwich and chicken Milanese salad. The beers were cold, service was good and friendly with our server Sam. It was a wonderful relaxing night!

This place is consistently wonderful. The servers, the food, the drinks, and the vibe are always on point. We brought friends who are new to town for this visit, and they agreed that it is such a great place. Note that I have a ton of food allergies and never feel like I am left out here.
