We can’t recommend this spot enough. Our waiter was kind and helpful but a bit quiet-spoken and difficult to hear. We sat in the out covered area, music was nice and the feel of the place is great. I love the tree in the middle and the way the bar is lit up. The menu has so many great options. We had the calamari and the Thai chimichurri was an explosion of flavor that went well with the other items we ordered. The Happy Ending sushi roll was bright, the right bite size and fantastic. One of my favorite sushi rolls ever. The chicken mole was unlike any other I’ve had. Light, crispy and the fried plantain made it perfect. The smoky guacamole fried rice, OMg. We finished with the bread pudding & horchata ice cream. Honestly, I’m having a hard time not cancelling our reservation elsewhere this evening and returning to SumoMaya for another go!

I took my daughter and a friend, both from out of town, to SumoMaya for dinner. It had been several years since I had dined there, and it was the first time for both of them. The quality of the food completely blew us away. The ceviche starter was by far the best we've ever had, with sushi-grade tuna and yellowtail, the short rib tacos absolutely divine, and the kimchee rice and seafood paella bursting with flavor. It was truly the best meal I have had in Scottsdale in a very long time. Service was outstanding, too, and dishes were served in a very timely manner. It was very expensive for three people, but I guess you get what you paid for, if you're lucky. We were extremely lucky this time.

All around incredible experience. We left satisfied. Our server gave us a proper explanation of how their kitchen works related to ordering and the serving of each dish (order to share and not as individuals because nothing will arrive at the same time, etc.). We sat in the enclosed patio which was beautiful. The Korean Beef Tacos and Maya Rolls were the star of the show. The music was a bit loud on the patio.
