The Abergavenny Arms serves a delightful mixture of traditional English Pub Classics. We source the ingredients from local producers wherever possible and all our food is freshly prepared and created in our kitchen. The Team provide a warm welcome and are here to ensure you have a memorable gastronomic experience. Food is available daily. As one of the oldest Pubs in the country , dating back to 1450, we have a relaxed cosy restaurant with open fires and aged oak beams, and in the warmer days you can enjoy our sun trap garden with far reaching views over the Eridge Park Estate. We offer plenty of parking and friendly dogs are welcome in the lounge bar and garden.

A fantastic meal, in a lovely setting with a nice warm log fire burning, the young man that serviced us was very attentive and friendly, it was without a doubt a lovely evening. Great food, great choice, great place and great service, everything you could want, we'll be back again.

What a fantastic find. The moment we arrived we were warmly greeted by the bar and waiting staff. Very attentive throughout. A lovely cosy atmosphere as you would want from an English pub, Food choices were varied and suited all tastes and the standard of cuisine was very good. We live in France so for us this was a treat and we will be back

I booked for lunch to celebrate a friend's birthday. We were all really disappointed with the poor service, one waitress spent ages chatting to what appeared to be friends and in the end we had to ask for service. The food was also disappointing, veg cold, roast potatoes cold and hard, my Yorkshire pudding was folded in half and soggy. Sadly I can't see us using the Abergavenny again as this is not the only time we were let down.

Food and surroundings very good. Service was not great but I think that was due to a shortage of staff. Those staff that served us were very pleasant.

This review is not from Eryll, as you show on your initial page, but my (Joan Hamilton-Smith) own personal view as we were lunching together. I was initially taken aback when we arrived to be told: "Follow me, let's stick you over here". Not an acceptable greeting when first arriving at a restaurant. I object to being 'stuck' anywhere, especially in that context as it sounded rude and the person whose comment it was would rather have been employed doing something more interesting, rather than guiding guests to their table. Once we arrived at the allocated table, it was very difficult to sit down due to the bench being much too close to the table and, had the table been moved, would then have trapped my friend in the same predicament. Also bulky cushions made sitting uncomfortable so had to be moved out of the way. We both had scampi, which was nice. I had the crumble and custard for dessert and found the plate with the crumble was red hot, but nobody mentioned that, so fingers could have been badly burned. Luckily I have relatively good reactions so no damage done. However, the hot custard was in a small jug which didn't have a handle, so it was impossible to pick up and pour over the crumble, even trying to utilise the napkin proved too tricky. A large dog was constantly coming up and sitting by the table, waiting for scraps but, fortunately, made no attempt to jump up. I am fond of dogs but, should I have had an aversion to them, would not have been happy with its hanging around most of the time whilst I was trying to enjoy my meal and talk to my friend.

Lovely pub, very good food. You are short staffed though, too long waiting and staff so busy they forget things!

Food was super, thank you! Service was slow but obviously because there was not enough staff on shift.

We went for my sons 21st birthday meal. We were greeted by a super friendly pub dog, which we loved.. The atmosphere was very relaxed. Our service was perfect, the landlady was very natural/friendly. She also sorted out the birthday cake with candles for me.. Would definitely recommend coming here..

Having been before and it being great I was keen to return for a roast. To start it was cold, we were all shivering. Then there's just one poor barman running around trying to seat people, take orders, make drinks.. on his own making service slow. Myself and my partner shared the roast chicken, and while it was lovely, the sides were lacking. It really needs an extra potato or two and maybe some carrots. Pudding was the biggest disappointment, I had Eton mess and it was basically a huge bowl of cream, far too much cream and not enough of anything else. Made me feel quite ill. Didn't complain at the time as the poor barman had enough to manage.
