Was looking forward to a fine dining experience with my wife on Valentine's weekend. My venison was excellent. However, my wife's dover sole was over cooked and dry. The server should have realized this as it was prepared tableside and should have immediately returned it to the kitchen. I know how hard it is to prepare since it is so delicate and precision is required. It is so important in a fine dining restaurant to have all the staff working together to create great guest experience. Unfortunately, this did not happen and my wife had to pass on her main course. We were comp'ed for her meal but that's not what we wanted. We wanted to have a nice meal together enjoying great food and service.
Another observation is none of the staff seemed happy. All seemed to be in a bad mood or not happy to be there for some reason. Both my wife and I noticed this.
So, the restaurant could be a great restaurant but fell short at least on our visit.

My husband and I don't understand why the Ashby Inn doesn't have a Michelin star. The food is absolutely fantastic, and the wine and pairings are perfect. Service is always excellent. What's not to love?

I absolutely loved dining at The Ashby Inn Restaurant. The quiet and romantic ambience, the history, the delicious food. Everything was so wonderful. The staff was so poised and kind. I would love to go back to stay at the Inn and enjoy breakfast. 10/10!

We had a lovely lunch at the Ashby Inn. The food was good overall though not great, but my husband loved his steak (even though it was well done despite rare requested). They seemed to be understaffed as one friendly person was both greeter, server and bartender. There was only one other couple dining, although a third couple was seated at one point but left after waiting a considerable time without being handed a menu. It's a pretty building and location and a nice stop if you're in the area.

Food and service were amazing while we watched the snowfall peacefully. They added a subtle Happy Birthday chocolate to the dessert, which was perfect form my wife! Our waiter made an amazing impromptu Mocktail!! Excellent experience all around.
