The Assembly House is a gorgeous Georgian gem perfectly located in the heart of Norwich. We set out to create the kind of establishment we'd love to find in one of the UK's most beautiful cities, one where old-fashioned hospitality is valued, food is delicious and where beautiful surroundings can be found hidden around every corner.
From breakfast where we serve our unique Beforenoon Tea - the breakfast edition of afternoon tea - to lunch which includes Assembly House classics and grazing boards, we're open seven days a week.
We're most famous for our themed afternoon teas which change regularly and are served from noon until last service at 3.30pm daily. As the Home of Afternoon Tea, we also serve some spectacular savoury versions of tea, including Beforenoon Tea, seafood option Afternoon Sea and our cheese-based option Afternoon Cheese. Please let us know your dietary adaptations for vegan, dairy-free, gluten-free or vegetarian teas at least 24 hours in advance.

    It's the multi-award winning service we're famous for: four gorgeous tiers served under glittering chandeliers between 12pm & 3.30pm! Afternoon Tea at The Assembly House is £32.00 for one (£18.95 for under-12s) plus a 10% discretionary service charge. ALL afternoon teas served are themed, other than for pre-booked private events. Your booking will be for one of several of our dining rooms, including the main restaurant. We look forward to you being our guests!     The Assembly House is the home of Beforenoon Tea, the breakfast edit of our award-winning afternoon tea served EVERY DAY in our restaurant between 8am to 11am. Beforenoon Tea makes any day a celebration! The menu includes a slightly smaller version of one of our hot freshly-cooked breakfasts and then the Beforenoon Tea Stand which is filled with treats including a ‘fried egg' mango and vanilla cheesecake and cereal-based cakes and tarts. Savouries include mini cream cheese and smoked salmon croissants, Cheddar Cheese, Colman's Mustard and chive scones with bacon jam, three-cheese toasties and Assembly House sausage rolls. Then choose tea or coffee chocolate mousse. All served with loose leaf English Breakfast tea or coffee!

    Available seven days a week from 8am to 11am, our breakfast menu includes favourites such as a Full English Fry-up packed full of local ingredients to Posh Cheese on Toast, our popular Beforenoon Tea (a breakfast edition of our afternoon tea served on three tiers) to our Double-Baked Cheddar and Parmesan Soufflés, Kedgeree to Eggs Benedict, Smoked Salmon and Scrambled Eggs on sourdough to Buttermilk Pancakes with berries and creme fraiche or Chocolate...There's something for everyone on the menu!     We’ve had afternoon tea before but they didn’t have availability so opted for the Beforenoon Afternoon Tea instead. We both really enjoyed it. Lovely cooked breakfast (nothing mini about it, seemed full size to me), plus a massive range of savouries and sweet treats on the tiers. Everything cooked well and tasted amazing. The little Earl Grey mousse with crunchy nut cornflakes was out of this world! Service was very attentive and good. Such good value for money. Far too much to eat at once so we took the rest home and it sorted lunch!

    The Assemby House in Norwich is a lovely place to have Afternoon Tea. Have actually been there several times now. Friendly, efficient staff. Lovely food. Extra sandwiches etc brought out too.

    First time visit to the assembly rooms, food was lovely, staff very friendly and attentive, explained everything too us, will definitely do a return visit

    This was yet again a lovely afternoon tea staff were very nice. There was one young lady who didnt not seem pleased To get my second drink after she had brought my mums . And on the way to till she was shaking her head .And I could see she was saying something to another member of staff as he was looking At us. But I ordered a vegetarian afternoon tea for me that came put on a separate plate not a stand like my mums and aunties, this didn't feel aa special and the were just chucked on there All the cakes were pushed together on the top plate as well So two trays would off looked a lot nicer and cleaner. And the only thing I thought was missing that last time we did the peter pan afternoon tea we had a gold chocolate coin out of the treasure chest what gave it a bit of a personal touch. But definitely looking forward to coming againg

    Enjoyed a tasty lunch with excellent service and surroundings. Menu seemed smaller than usual but we both found something we enjoyed. More geared up to afternoon tea today as most of the other diners chose this themed option. Thoroughly recommend this venue. Prices are very reasonable too
