The Assembly House is a gorgeous Georgian gem perfectly located in the heart of Norwich. We set out to create the kind of establishment we'd love to find in one of the UK's most beautiful cities, one where old-fashioned hospitality is valued, food is delicious and where beautiful surroundings can be found hidden around every corner.
From breakfast where we serve our unique Beforenoon Tea - the breakfast edition of afternoon tea - to lunch which includes Assembly House classics and grazing boards, we're open seven days a week.
We're most famous for our themed afternoon teas which change regularly and are served from noon until last service at 3.30pm daily. As the Home of Afternoon Tea, we also serve some spectacular savoury versions of tea, including Beforenoon Tea, seafood option Afternoon Sea and our cheese-based option Afternoon Cheese. Please let us know your dietary adaptations for vegan, dairy-free, gluten-free or vegetarian teas at least 24 hours in advance.

A lovely afternoon tea spent with my sister to celebrate our birthdays. Staff went above and beyond and even bought out a small cake with a lit candle, this was a lovely touch and was very sweet of them. The food was all so delicious as well as the tea. Pleased we decided on coming here and will definitely return on other occasions. Thankyou to all the staff who looked after us!

The food was outstanding and being in the quieter side room was lovely. We couldn’t manage all the food brought to us were given a box to bring it home. The only criticism I can make is that our waiter didn’t explain fully the option of drinks or additional items. We only overheard another table being told this.

We went as a family to celebrate my birthday. We decided to have the Children's Afternoon Tea for the 10 year old, but as we knew that he disliked jam & he then said that he didn't like cheese either (!!), he just had ham in his sandwiches, which worked well. Everybody else enjoyed the "Peter Pan" afternoon tea. Everything was delicious & freshly made. There wasn't much left over - but what there was, was boxed up for us to bring home

The food i had was lovely but I'm allergic to coconut and nuts so I was given 2 brownies instead of the sponge cake and no shortbread as this had nuts in also. I found the sweet selection was very ordinary because of the replacement, I'm sure they could have made replacement cakes without nuts or coconut rather than the boring brownies that I was given. It was meant to be Peter pan themed but due to my allergy I did not get a themed afternoon tea, just a run of the mill afternoon tea which i could have had anywhere.

We had a fantastic Afternoon tea at Norwich Assembly House today to celebrate my birthday. I was even given a greetings card and the cakes included one with a candle alight in it! The staff were lovely, attentive but not intrusive. Many thanks to all concerned!
