Thomas Makris, from the Island of Skopelos, fell in love when he met Helen Babalos. They met at Orestes Greek restaurant in 1974, while on a Greek dancing tour of North America. Soon after their marriage, they had a vision to open a place like no other in Vancouver; a Greek restaurant where everyone is family; where everyone receives a consistent experience created by delicious homemade authentic food and impeccable service. In 1984 they opened Anatoli Souvlaki in north Vancouver. In 2011 their sons Alexi and Iani took over the restaurant and early 2015 they expanded on their parents original dream, in a new venture with their cousin Daniel Bergman, Alexi and Iani opened ‘The Greek by Anatoli’ in Yaletown. ‘The Greek by Anatoli’ focuses on small share plates or “mezze”.

We had an awesome dinner! The ambiance was nice and cozy, it was mine and my sisters birthdays and they did a shot for all 4 of us, and each a birthday dessert! I had the moussaka which was delicious. Big portions. It made our dinner very special. Thank you!

First time here and it did not disappoint! The atmosphere was warm and inviting - not too loud but a really great energy. The food was by far the best greek we have had in years - so flavourful! We live in the valley but will definitely be coming back to this gem!

We ordered the lamb chop platter. Lamb came out close to well done even though we ordered it medium-rare. As soon as we noticed the server, she offered re-make. Since we didn't have time to wait, she discussed with manager and told us the meal would be on the house. With such level of customer care, we will definitely come back next time we are in town. We did enjoy the rice, potatoes and veggie that came with the lamb.

We’ve been to The Greek many times, and as always, the food was excellent! During this visit (Saturday night), we found the noise level to be a bit too high. We were having a very hard time conversing given how loud the music was. The service was pretty good, although we had to flag down our server several times Overall, still an awesome restaurant! We’ll be back for sure :)
