   Food was very good (squash soup, pear salad, rack of lamb & ragu) and nicely presented but quite pricy for the ambiance. Our table was cramped in a corner against a wall and backing the hostess stand. The room quite noisy (not helped by a nearby table of loud talkers) and chairs uncomfortable (wooden slats without cushioning). Service was good and accommodated dietary restrictions. Good food but I was hoping for a nicer spot at this price point to have a “special” dinner. Downtown Davis is popular so leave extra time to find parking.

   My second time and as amazing as the first. Love this place, the food and the owners. If I lived in Davis I’d be there weekly!

   My husband and I took our close friend to The Mustard Seed to celebrate a “momentous” birthday. We appreciated that we were seated immediately although we arrived 1/2 hour early. The servers were prompt, helpful, courteous, even those who were in training. We shared the pleasant crab cake appetizer although the sauce added little. The Asian pear salad was delicious with varied textures and flavors. Our friend fully enjoyed the Caesar salad. The crusted rack of lamb and side fresh vegetables was perfectly cooked, but the sauce detracted. My husband stated that his grilled rib eye steak was cooked far more than the very rare he had requested. For dessert, we shared an order of Profiteroles with vanilla ice cream covered in chocolate ganache and sliced almonds, which was delicious and so festive delivered with a lit candle to recognize the celebration!

   We have eaten there on several occasions. Food is always good, this time was no exception. It did seem that the prices were significantly up. Dinner for 2 was about 100/person. Granted we had an appetizer, salad, entrée , glass of wine, and dessert, but it did seem expensive. Next time I'll limit the ordering to just the entrée and glass of wine. I had the duck and my wife the pork loin. Both were very good.

   Very cozy and comfortable restaurant. The food was excellent, server was great. The fireplace was perfect on a cool evening. I will definitely go back.

    This place is amazing. If you want a nice non-flashy and cozy amazing date night. This is the place to go to.  it has such a welcome home feel with a nice upper classified. I will be returning to this place in the future.
