The Smith is a casual American brasserie with four upbeat locations in New York City: The Smith East Village, The Smith Midtown, The Smith Lincoln Square, and The Smith NoMad, as well as locations in DC and Chicago. We care about every meal and every moment. The menu features bistro classics, seasonal fare, and craft cocktails. Walk in the door and you’re in for a great time. Whether it’s date night, drinks on the town, a big birthday bash, a working lunch, a boozy brunch, or an I-don’t-want-to-cook-tonight night, we’ve got you covered.

While seated waiting for our table at the bar area there was a server (a young man) who went above and beyond. Overall great Valentine’s Day dinner staff is amazing and food was great!

The drinks were delicious and the main course was tasty. The Smith is usually a good and reliable place to eat. However, this time the service was a bit lacking. The valentine dessert was disgusting with unadvertised ingredients and felt like a pantry clean out (creme brûlée with sugared pineapple, whip cream, raspberries, sugar crumble, bits of brownie, and more). We also got the oyster samplers and no one explained which was which. Valentine’s Day at the smith fell flat.

The Smith is an outstanding restaurant with a warm atmosphere, delicious food, and excellent service. From the moment we walked in, we were greeted with a friendly smile and seated promptly. Our waiter, Andrew, was exceptional—attentive, knowledgeable, and genuinely friendly. He made fantastic recommendations and ensured we had everything we needed without being intrusive. The food was flavorful and beautifully presented, making for an unforgettable dining experience. If you’re looking for a place with great food and top-notch service, The Smith is a must-visit!

Sunday brunch was good! Regardless of when you go, on the menu or not, get the tomato soup. The soup is spectacular with simple, fresh ingredients. My breakfast sandwich was swimming in a much too sweet aioli. The kale salad and Smith burger were very good. The sticky toffee pudding was the perfect ending to a nice meal.

Vodka eggs were fantastic but the place is pretty noisy if that sort of thing bothers you.
