We usually love this restaurant, but on this occasion our table was near the bar and the bar area was completely over capacity. So much so, that we had a large group of people constantly knocking into our table and standing an inch away from us. The crowd was so thick that our server couldn’t even get through to bring us our food and drinks. There was literally no space to walk between our table and the bar. We were surprised and disappointed that the manager didn’t ask the crowd to disperse since it was interfering with the dining area and made it impossible to enjoy our meal. It certainly compromised our dining experience, especially considering the cost of dining here.

The food and service were wonderful. I am a vegetarian and did not see a dinner that was meatless. The chef prepared a vegetable gnocchi specifically for me. It was fabulous and much appreciated!

The high top tables were way too close to the bar and often people were standing very close to our table

The Tasting Room remains a wonderful place to dine. We had lunch there today, and the food was excellent, plus the service was attentive and friendly. The restaurant is also decorated very nicely for the holidays and has reupholstered the banquettes.

The bar does a very nice job with craft cocktails. Service is attentive. And, usually, the food is pretty darn good too.

This place was just ok. I thought the value was lacking maybe because of the location. Tartar didn’t seem fresh and shrimp appetizer was just average for the price. For the price you can get a better meal in DC or Virginia

As always, the food was beautifully plated and tasty. Crispy eggplant, crab dip, halloumi, crab cakes, halibut…all amazing. We have really never had a miss in this regard and have visited numerous times. Stellar cocktails. This visit, however, we had a vegetarian in our group and he asked if their pasta dish (gnocchi and lamb) could be prepared with a simple non meat sauce or even another pasta with olive oil/Parmesan. Our server, although with a smile, curtly said, “sorry, that’s not possible”. Did not offer any suggestions or options otherwise and would not ask the chef. Other than sides, there was not one veg option on the menu and our guest had a salad. Very disappointing. Just a heads up for any potential vegan/vegetarian guests to be aware of. You may not be accommodated.

This was our first visit to The Tasting Room and we were not disappointed! Everything was excellent from the quality of the food to the excellent service we received. Food portions were "just right" and our server was very attentative, we didn't have to ask for a thing! This is a white table cloth restaurant with moderately high prices, but is also casual in that you don't have to wear a suit to dinner and we even saw some visiting cowboys doned in their hats enjoying dinner! We highly recommend this restaurant when in Frederick City and now that it is the holidays, the city is most beautiful at night with all the festive lights!

It was pretty good. I didn’t like my salad or scallops. Scallops were an odd recipe. Everyone else loved their steak. The was great but it took a while for our entrees to come out. It was pretty good. We’ll go back. They need to change up their menu.
