Fab brunch: pork shoulder Gordita - well seasoned, buckwheat crepe - nicely cheese filled, breakfast platter - thick hearty sausage, Eton Mess - rhubarb jam balances sweetness and crushed pistachio for visual appeal & touch of nuttiness. Thoughtful garnishes as dishes served with different greens. Fun to see skill of chef managing frying pans cooking food in open-to-dining room wood burning oven. Lovely service, leaving bottle of water and also refilling. Let us relax and catch-up. Maybe slightly pricey for portion size but I’d rather have less of food well done than leftovers. Also $25pp no-show charge a bit daunting as stuff happens even with best intentions - maybe should only be enforced during peak times (Mother’s Day, Christmas, etc)

We had an excellent dinner here. Everything we had was fantastic - the Serrano ham and baguette appetizer, the halibut, roast chicken, fingerling potatoes and toffee pudding were each outstanding. Service was friendly and efficient. One of the best dining experiences we have had in Seattle.

Everything was spot on, had the smoked trout dip and chips, blue cheese and apple butter, baguette and ham, the lettuces, chicken, fish and pork, everything was fabulous. Three of us had cocktails, all distinctive and creative. Service was personable, and foods arrived nicely spaced over time.

A relaxing and tasty place to meet and eat with friends. The menu may look eclectic at first glance, but as the portions come out, it becomes clear all the flavors are friends. The sardine toast and the pork shoulder - both savory standouts. And going with friends lets you have a bite of lots of tasty things - including room for a few bites of dessert. We had the sticky toffee pudding - which was absolutely ideal.

Love this place so much, always my first stop when I’m in town. We came for a late lunch and stayed through happy hour and as always it was perfect in every way.

The Whale Wins is easily top 2 of my favorite Seattle restaurants. The constantly varied menu, warm ambiance, and wonderful staff create a very cozy environment for any meal. All of their menus are carefully thought out and always made to perfection. The Whale Wins will always be a place I visit for celebrations, get togethers, or just when I need a comfort meal done right. This place is awesome.

My friend and I enjoyed our meal here. The halibut dip and chicory salad were delicious as were our mains. Our waiter was personable, helpful and did not rush us, or hover. I highly recommend this restaurant.
